emember back in the late ‘90s, early millennium when it was “cool” to put a “z” on the end of a word where the letter “s” formerly sufficed? Though now it is a literary faux pas (unless of course your 5 years old and worship those Bratz “dollz”), it seems Azia didn’t get the memo. Azia’s aim is to combine all the menus of Southeast Asia (i.e. Malaysia, China, Thailand and Japan) and present a variety of dishes to patrons on the other side of the Pacific.
While the décor is phenomenally modern with sleek walnut paneling and China red booths, the cuisine is rather standard and doesn’t offer an authentic experience for refined palates that refuse to pay good money for a mall food-court quality dinner. If you don’t demand innovative Asian cuisine that’s equally modern and innovative as the décor, Azia will satisfy your hankering for Kung Pao chicken, Beef curry and Peking duck. - E.J.
