Dropped in at 8:45pm on a Monday night for drinks with 6 other people. The restaurant was fairly slow and quiet and there were only 8 other patrons in total. When we entered the restaurant, the waitress asked for how many. I said, "Seven". She then asked, "For dinner or drinks?" I said, "Drinks & dessert". If you saw the look on her face, it looked as if I told her somebody close to her had died. She rolled her eyes, started walking towards the kitchen area and muttered, "Let me check if we can accomodate you", then said something to the other waitress. At this point, my friends and I were already feeling a little unwelcomed. The other waitress then put two tables together for us, sat us down and we thanked her. She was polite to us probably because she felt her co-worker was being quite unfairly rude to us. We then asked to see the Reserve wine list and started to peruse it. A minute later, the rude waitress comes to our table to take our order and asks my girlfriend (the only non-alcohol drinker) what she wanted to drink. My girlfriend orders a tea. I guess that really just put her off!! She rolled her eyes again and started to get very snappy. Then from the corner of our eyes, we see her whispering comments to the other waitress. We are already feeling quite uncomfortable and was debating whether or not to just get up and leave. We decided to see it through and ordered a bottle of Reserve 2001 Burrowing Owl Cabernet Sauvignon. I thought to myself, "OK, now perhaps she'll treat us a little better knowing that we'll be drinking a couple of $100 bottles so our bill will accomodate for a decent tip". She then asked how many glasses she should bring, and my tea drinker friend said, "I'm not going to have any, so six is fine". At this point, the rude waitress flipped out and in a rude and angry tone, she snaps, "I know you're not! I'm well aware of that! Who else here isn't drinking the wine?" That was the last straw for us! We told her we didn't feel welcomed at her restaurant and got up. She then replies in the most insincere tone, "That was not my intention and we would not want you to feel that way". We just got up and left. I can understand if we were being rude or making unreasonable demands, but it baffles me how we have offended her. Was she just having a bad day? Did our party size throw her off??
