    Review by Rick Levine
To stay competitive with the Vancouver club scene, AuBAR throws down a seductive vibe even the hardest schmooze-ster could appreciate. Once inside the Seymour Street bar, you’ll be amazed by the size of the club. The club is huge; a nicely-divided space of well-dressed clubbers who have come to meet and greet more of the same.

AuBAR has its finger on the pulse of the scene, luring them in with a diverse set of nights. Wild & Wet Wednesdays, for example, reel in a fun, young crowd of Vancouverites, while Sensual Fridays brings a dramatically different selection. Other nights to watch are Toonie Wednesdays (college crowd) and Seductive Saturdays (downtown scenesters).

The dance floor of the upscale club moves to a round of beats, mostly a mix of house covers you may never heard; resident DJs host a jarring rave atmosphere and meat-market attitude. Electronica, hip-hop, house, funk, disco and '80s classics fans can also find their beat on the different levels depending on the night.

The club has an open feel while still maintaining two separate, distinct areas- often filled with a crowd of people that schmooze and network amongst themselves and more often than not, sway to the music. The crowd is a bizarre mixture of young and older, trendy and what-the-fuck. Your standard barely legal frat guys and trendy, blow-dried young girls. But a beautiful crowd it is. - R.L.

I wasn't impressed the one time I went. The music was boring top 40 mixes, and there were just too many age 30+ people - women with bad perms, men in pleated khakis. Yuck.

First and foremost, if you're looking for a club that likes to treat their VIP customers with disrespect, deceit and inappropriate behavior this is the place. There was an incident in the bathroom involving the attendant and my girlfriend, of whom had done nothing wrong - I was there to witness it. Next thing you know she was being carried out by the bouncer who didn't want to listen. And she didn't even know why she was being carried out. We asked for the manager and was told by the bouncer (who claimed he was an "assistant manager") that the general manager had left earlier in the night, only to find out later on this was a lie. After confronting him with the matter, he admitted having problems with this attendant. And the fact I tipped her earlier in the night because she was constantly asking me to tip her is upsetting - as close to pan handling for someone to give me a paper towel. We tipped our bartender in the VIP room very well and I have always been one to recognize service and to reward it. Also, the fact that his only solution was for us to come back next week and he'll give us a free bottle of champagne when he could've easily covered our bill to that point in the night did not solve anything. If he really wanted to make the situation right, why wouldn't he make it right on the spot. After this experience, I highly encourage taking your business elsewhere unless you wish to be harrassed in the bathroom or to be lied by management who seemed to have no regard for the welfare of their paying customers. All patrons should be treated well, but when you pay for a VIP table, you expect a higher level of treatment.

THE WORST BAR/CLUB IN VANCOUVER (maybe in North America) PERIOD. Bartenders are snobs, bouncers are bunch of "Mr. Tough guys" who would taunt you and try to kick you out of the club JUST by talking to someone who are in the line at the entrance. First time I have ever sworn and taunt at just by standing at the door. Plus, I hate any bar/club with STRICT dress code... why the hell do I have to dress up like everyone??
