  he back of the parking lot had been abandoned, save for a single car and a handful of shopping carts. It seemed a good place to meander. I wandered to the farthest curb with intentions of sitting and sipping a delicious juice box. I heard a rumbling behind me as I headed down the slope. As I turned I saw a rogue shopping cart, shaking toward the lonely automobile. Altruistically (well…) I ran to cut it off, arriving just in time to save the car from moderate body damage. I looked around for applause, but only tumbleweeds stared back. Damn it. No one saw my selfless action; it was lost. What's the point? Also, is there a point to this blurb: I think it might be: go see Crystal Pite's latest dance piece, "Lost Action." Either that, or make sure you have an audience, else altruism is wasted. -S.T.
