Hordes of people know that quote but still don't know anything about Flock of Seagulls (for them: they were the 1980s Brit band that wrote "I Ran (So Far Away)"). Similarly, many people know of Anton Chekhov's play, The Seagull, but haven't seen/read it. John Neumeier knows it, has read it, presumably likes it, and has re-imagined it as a ballet. Now it gets a Four Seasons staging. -S.T.
