    The Trojan Women :: May 30 – Oct. 5

    Well, it’s Stratford season again. That means anyone who thinks they’re intelligent and have an appreciation of theater will have to visit at least once to maintain their social standing. While there are many shows worthy of attention (the new rendition of Hamlet is particularly appealing), The Trojan Women certainly stands out as a play that demands audiences. Translated from the ancient text written by Euipides (so you know it’s good), this is a powerful tale of the endurance of the human spirit about the women of Troy who are forced into enslavement by the Greeks (including the fallen king’s widow). Sure, it’s going to be a depressing story, but dammit that’s what you go to classical theater for. It’s supposed to feel like work to watch the play, otherwise you may as well just be lounging on your couch at home shoving stale Cheetos into your face while watching Will & Grace reruns and contemplating suicide. –P.B.

    Tickets are $22-$99

    Tom Patterson Theatre, 111 Lakeside Drive, Stratford, ON
