Starbucks Coffee Liqueur
By Don Ellis
But the Coffee Liqueur turns out to be not just another Kahlua knockoff. In fact, Starbucks emulates itself, as the liqueur has more than a touch of that certain Starbucks-ish aroma; it smells and tastes like the signature pungent coffee. On a taste test, Kahlua had the lighter taste. Like 'em sweet? Bailey's owned the sweet touch. But Starbucks Coffee Liqueur's taste is pure bittersweet coffee flavour.
The liqueur is 100 percent derived from Starbucks coffee, supplemented with a 20 percent dose of alcohol. Latin American Arabica coffee beans, the same blend used in Starbuck’s house brews, give the liqueur a dark brown colour.
The company has no plans to sell the liqueur in its coffee shops, but is currently distributing it through liquor stores. It has also landed in bars and restaurants. Don't be afraid, it's delicious, even when mixed in the lowliest of dives. -D.E. | Starbucks Coffee Liqueur
