  ’m not going to lie. When I read the name “Panty Schmooze” I assumed that this event was either related to pornography, strippers, prostitutes, or all three combined. Imagine how surprised I was to learn that it’s actually a charity gala that raises money for women’s shelters around Toronto. The events offer an evening of live entertainment as well as the opportunity to relieve some liberal guilt by either donating new panties (hence the title) or cash to enter. And don’t worry, all donations go towards homeless women in the city, not some twisted pervert. Thus far, these galas have brought in $15,200 and 5,500 pairs of donated panties. Not a bad hall. This time the event will be hosted by Rik Emmett with performances from Johnny Reid, Alex J. Robinson, Low Level Flight and more. The price of entry is either a minimum of 5 new pairs of panties, 2 bras, or $30. It’s your call what you bring to the door but lets be honest, some of those options are far more exciting that others. –P.B.
