Toronto Galleries
ometimes new technologies bring good things, but they usually bring along some negative aspects as well. We've been producing paper with machines for a long time in the western world, but in Japan, there is still a trace of the old tradition of hand making paper, which is called Washi, which is the Japanese word for the traditional papers made from the long inner fibers of three plants; wa means Japanese and shi means paper. This exhibition focuses on mixed media incorporating one of the few objects we have left that has avoided industrial influence. M.K.
