Toronto Galleries
ou probably won't be too surprised that the legendary Joni Mitchell has another talent up her sleeve. You also probably never thought that anything could blow you away as much as her strumming and melodic singing, but you might want to rethink that assumption; she is actually already an accomplished visual artist, having made all the artwork for her albums, for one thing. Her current mixed-media art showcase called Green Flag Song depicts horrific scenarios and nightmarish depictions of the world we live in, which are images she captured from the screen of a dying TV, then manipulated to reflect her own distinctive vision of the world we live in. She has depth, talent, and also a bit of positivity with bright greens and pinks popping out around the dreadful images, as if a ray of hope. This exhibit is trying to foster awareness that there is a dire need for change in our world. -M.K.
