    Art In A Courtyard House :: Courtyard House :: Jun. 2 – Jun. 10

    What is a courtyard house, you might ask? To be honest, I'm not quite sure, but that doesn't help you much, does it. After much researching, I discovered an explanation on none other than the art exhibit's website (I'm so clever), which says, "The Courtyard House was inspired by an ancient form of architecture and a new form of North American urban thinking - infill housing as an alternative urban typology. By converting a contractor warehouse in a mixed-use industrial neighborhood… which could successfully adapt to a mid-block or laneway situation, where there is no typical front or back. The design of the house is generated by an emphasis on the views and activities of the interior courtyards, where all the windows look inwards." The free art exhibit features drawings, frescoes, furniture, glass work, sculpture, photography and pottery by local artists and designers. –M.K.
