    Marinella's

Location: 640 College Street, Toronto ON

In the short time that Cucina was open, it built up a loyal fanbase of pizza-lovers, espresso-junkies and lounge-rats. But the former restaurant/bar couldn't survive the intense competition from the many other Little Italy restaurants and bars. The place has remained shuttered for a few months, but lately there has been some life spotted at the old location.

A construction crew worked rapidly, gutting the inside of the space, but retaining the same feel. A sign now hangs over the refurbished patio which reads "Marinella". The interior is still under heavy construction, but a long bar now sits all the way across the space with a couple of flat screen plasma TVs attached overtop. The menu will be (surprise surprise) Italian, but it will also be a great place to grab a fancy cocktail and take in the busy and attractive College Street crowd. Little Italy could always use another patio. We can't always go to The Dip. - R.T.

Marinella's is aiming to open Saturday, October 11, but may instead open sometime next week.
