hankfully and evidently, the future of footwear retail looks a lot like a 1970s sci-fi flick: cool. Recently remodeled, Capezio's flagship Bay and Bloor store has undergone a massive renovation. Gone are the staid white shelving, replaced by blue carpeting and spaceship couches.

The shop with the ballet shoe roots (nice timing, Ms. Retro) and the penchant for high-end casual/dress kick wear, has retained its familiar stock and trade, while infusing it with fresh life by way of new shoes and accessories by Jeffery Campbell, Chinese Laundry, and GeorgeGina&Lucy. Go-tos, like Steve Madden, Kenneth Cole, Lacoste, Diesel, Royal Elastic, Juicy Couture, and many, many more, still dot the shelves. -S.T.
