ired of running into people wearing the exact same clothes as you? We could all use a break from H&M, The Gap, and the like. Instead, venture to Bloke Boutique, a high-end designer t-shirt store for men. Or women, if they are so inclined.
With a desire for greater individuality in his clothes, owner Moe Amrani has created the store for the discerning shopper. The prints are designed by Amrani himself, a graphic designer who has formerly held jobs with Reebok, Roots and Adidas. The designs are produced in a workshop connected to the store, (minimizing the carbon footprint of the T's), where every design is lovingly hand-detailed, manually silk-screened, and numbered. Yes, numbered; for each design only 12 shirts are made, which means the likelihood of running into someone wearing your shirt is virtually similar to you winning a lottery. Amrani wants “to create something like a tattoo shop but with t-shirts.” All the individuality, with none of the pain or Hepatitis B!
The shirts are all fitted, European style; this is club-wear after all. Currently the selection consists of crews and V-necks but as fall approaches, they’ll bring in long-sleeves, zip-ups, beanies, and toques. Celebs are already sporting Bloke designs. These include Chris Nunez from Miami Ink and Toronto hip-hop artists Mic Boogie and Dru.
One thing that may thin the herd is the price tag; for your wearable artwork you can expect them to start at $55 and increase from there. Oh, I know that’s like four shirts for you, but aren’t you tired of “Maine Lobster Shack” anyway? – T.F.
