Uzel grew up in the small port town of Gemlick, Turkey where his family cured and cultivated olives in the traditional manner. They had almost thirty dishes they would use the bite-sized fruits in including a breakfast option. Uzel watched his family sell their olives to vendors who would then sell them in Europe for a large profit. It was his dream to do the same. After seven long years of working in construction to save up enough money for his venture, Uzel realized his dream.

At 585 Jones Avenue the Olive and Olive Oil Shop resides offering products imported solely from Uzel’s family back in Turkey.
