Two-Face: The Dark Knight’s Worst Kept Secret
    Page 4 of 4

Since the beginning, director Christopher Nolan has said that one of the major influences on the movie is Alan Moore’s stunning Joker comic The Killing Joke. The primary focus of that book was how the Joker was transformed from a failing comedian to a psychopath after a single bad day and his desire to give others an experience so traumatic that they too will be driven insane. From the brief glimpses of the movie given in the trailer, it appears that the Joker shows up at party looking for Dent, but only finds his girlfriend and (possibly) throws her off of a building. He’s clearly trying to mess with the Harvey’s head in the movie and there is a good chance that perhaps he transforms Dent into Two-Face deliberately to show that anyone can be a villain. Given the inherent duality of the Two-Face character, this seems entirely appropriate and quite an intelligent way of introducing the character. Whether or not this happens in the final film remains to be seen. But if it does happen…I think that Warner Brothers might owe me some money.–PB, News Extensions
