So LG Fashion Week has arrived and with it comes more than a handbag full of notable shows. Today, the ones to watch out for are Montreal-based designer, Travis Taddeo, and Toronto-based David Dixon. Taddeo made his grand debut last fall showcasing a very young, wearable collection mostly consisting of jersey and leather with the occasional fur accent. David Dixon, a designer who tends to be geared toward a more mature demographic is a stalwart in the Canadian fashion industry. Having dressed such eminent celebrities as Meg Ryan, Jeanne Beker, Wendy Crewson, Daria Werbowy, Ashley MacIsaac, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Paul Gross, Tre Armstrong, Kristin Booth, Ivana Santilli and Monika Schnarre, one hopes that this season's collection, showing at 1030 King St. West, Tuesday, October 20, will remain up to snuff. But if you're not into sexy runway shows, you can always check out The Last Gang quartet, Metric. Though constantly busy with side-project dalliances (Emily Haines and the Soft Skeleton, Bang Lime, Broken Social Scene, Guy Maddin etc.) are back with more Korg rock and glorious Haines kicks. Even if you don’t like the Brooklyn formed but Toronto-based, new wave, alterno-phile’s band, they are worth seeing live based on Haynes’s hotness alone. More on Emily H here… Oh and one more thing, Stomp might be a god act to catch for less literal-minded runway models trying to learn a few tricks. Learn how to get your Stomp on here
