hhh, they come and they go. The summer months bring Toronto's diners and drinkers out in droves. Summer’s on its way out, but don’t be too blue about it. This month's new restaurant openings will give you a head start on the season.
Many end-of-summer openings belong to more upscale (read: expensive) spots. There's a very good reason for this: the Toronto International Film Festival. As all of Hollywood's Pitts and Clooneys make their way into town, a coveted Yorkville haunt can easily justify charging prices that would probably make an ordinary person cry. But if you're shopping in Yorkville during TIFF, chances are you're not a regular person.

There's a wealthy elite just waiting to be milked, and
MoRoCo Chocolat, a new 3,600 square foot sweet shop and fine dining spot, is more than happy to be the one to milk it. This will be the ultimate destination for chocolate connoisseurs with an insatiable sweet tooth and a square plastic card that can accommodate it.
Upon entering the new shop, you are immediately met with an elegantly lit glass display comparable to what you might see at Tiffany's, only instead of diamonds, the display is filled with truffles. But these little designer chocolates may as well be diamonds; creations such as "Curry in a Hurry", Green With Envy", and "Flirt" are created with such precision as to make these as artesian as precious stones. Progress further into the shop and you will find a dining room made up in a dark (chocolate) colour scheme. Here you can sip rich chocolate and coffee drinks in an area reminiscent of a Parisian café.
Progress further east along Yorkville and you'll be met with the newest location of
Le Pain Quotidien. Chef Alain Coumont has spread his popular French style café to North American’s top cities, including a few midtown Toronto locations. It was only a matter of time before this fancy bakery made its way to the Yorkville area. Those that don’t abide by Atkins diets will delight in the scrumptious dough and delicious upscale déjeuner offerings. You can share your love for the crusty, freshly baked baguettes, loaves and buns with friends and strangers at the massive communal tables.
