ith spring finally making an appearance in the city, people can actually leave their homes without wanting to kill themselves because of the weather. And if you’re wondering around the great outdoors, you might as well grab something to eat (apparently food is required for survival or something like that…who knew?). Restaurateurs seem to have figured this out as well and a number of openings are set to accommodate the sudden influx of foot traffic.

Susur will indeed be closing its doors for good on May 31st, 2008. Before you despair over the loss of arguably our city’s best restaurant, listen up. Lee and his wife Brenda will be opening up a new concept eatery in its place.
The (other eponomous) "Lee" will remain unscathed and a New York project is also in the works. With great success comes the inevitable expansion. Susur is stepping up his game and getting ready to fight with the big boys down in NYC. Hopefully, Susur will continue work in both cities, depriving neither New Yorkers nor Torontonians of his mastery. No official announcements have been made yet, but with his son bussing tables at Terroni and a new venture with his wife at the old Susur location, it doesn’t look like he’ll be abandoning us any time soon.
