Paramount Reaches $1 Billion In 2008
Paramount has every right to be pleased about their current success at the box office. In theory, they sit atop of the Hollywood heap right now, it’s just unfortunate that they won’t be seeing most of the money the movies have earned. That cash will be going primarily to the people actually responsible for creating the content of the movies (a reasonable decision). Despite all the summer hits, the most profitable movie for Paramount so far this year is actually The Spiderwick Chronicles which brought in just under $72 million during February. Paramount will no doubt be telling themselves and the press that they are earning record profits this year. It certainly appears that way on paper, but now you know the truth loyal reader. Don’t take any guff from those swine.–PB, News Extensions
