Keg’s Away :: Irish Draught
Page 1 of 2
 e’ve gone over the Guinness, drank it dry really, but there are a fair number of other worthy draughts in the family. Here's the down-low:
Kilkenny: Oh my god, they killed, Kenny! Get it? (Sorry, I couldn’t help it; I should have, but I just couldn’t). Kilkenny stands in high favour with this guy. A red cream Irish ale, it's mildly topped with that same familiar nitrogen the Guinness offers. Kilkenny has a sweeter/stronger taste than the big G. Interesting fact: Kilkenny was originally used in the 80’s and 90’s to market Smithwick’s Ale overseas, because (get this) Europeans and Canadians found it difficult to pronounce the word "Smithwick’s". Huh? Must be the French. The beer is named after its homeland, Kilkenny, and was initially created solely for export. (Does that mean the Irish wouldn’t touch it?). If you find Guinness too black for your lung, give Kilkenny a try; you won’t be disappointed.
