    Hotel Trends: Jean-Georges-executed Room Service
    Page 2 of 3

Years ago, Simon worked for another well known chef, Jean-Georges Vongerichten; the indulgent chef at the self-titled Jean-Georges located in the Trump International Hotel and Tower. Trump may be synonymous with comb-overs and egotism, but his food lives up to snuff. The idea of a 3 Michelin star meal being delivered to your room is appealing, non? But when you can have that meal cooked literally in your own suite, well that is worth a vacation in itself. Rooms in the Trump tower with en suite kitchens can accommodate a Jean-Georges chef who will create a meal of your choosing. Select from such gourmet dishes as crunchy rabbit with citrus-chili paste and soybeen puree, or pan seared foie gras, ginger marinated citrus, cilantro and croutons. Not to mention dessert. I’m talking old fashioned chocolate egg creams, (again, going for comfort and nostalgia, Simon may have drawn his inspiration here), and chocolate poppy seed cake with Meyer lemon curd and halva powder. Just be prepared to drop about $800 for dinner for two (more than twice what it would cost to eat at Jean-Georges downstairs).
Hong Kong is a food connoisseur's haven. Amber in the Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hotel is no exception. Visiting Michelin starred chefs including Thierry Marx enforce the high standards and posh eating at a restaurant which will provide room service for the entire menu. Where else can you have Dungeness crab delivered to your room in 5 textures & 4 temperatures? (Served as jell-O, salad, foam, hot bisque & ice-cream.) Not to mention that a computerized sommelier will make recommendations to go with your seared cubes of blue fin tuna with shiso, crispy chicken skin and lotus root.
