    As a result of his awful movies and reprehensible funding methods, Uwe Boll has become an odd cult figure in the film world. Amongst film fans and critics, his is considered to be the worst director alive. A man who never ceases to surprise audiences with how incapable he is at telling stories cinematically. Some people watch his movies for camp value, but most just outright mock the “filmmaker.” Boll is understandably dismayed by his reputation and constantly fights against it. However, rather than creating an excellent film to prove all of his detractors wrong, he creates odd publicity stunts that only further damage his reputation. Boll frequently sends nasty responses to move critics mocking them rather than defending the movie. It’s not a strategy that has helped his critical standing, but one that Boll refuses to abandon.

    In June 2006 Uwe Boll took his hostile relationship with movie critics to the next level by challenging them to a boxing match. All the challengers had to do was submit two negative reviews of Boll’s movies and he would fly them to Spain for a match. In the end, Boll boxed and beat five different critics. It was a surreal event that cemented Boll’s position as one of the oddest filmmakers at all time (no, seriously, this really happened. Watch footage of it here if you don’t believe me). A few weeks ago, an online petition appeared pleading for Uwe Boll to retire. Many people started signing it and Boll responed by saying that he would retire if that tally hit 1,000,000. Once this news hit the web, thousands of people signing the petition, prompting an angry Uwe Boll to post this video:
