Well, the summer has come and gone and now Labor Day weekend is upon us. You could spend the three days sitting around your apartment working yourself up into a solid state of depression and amassing a collection of empty ice cream containers and used heroin needles, or you could actually do something with your life. You live in fucking New York City, the cultural capital of North America. If you can't find anything to do here, you're just not trying. Here are a list of exciting labor day events that we humbly suggest you check out. So stop hating yourself and get outside already! It ain't winter yet, buddy.

    Nick Zinner (Aug. 29)

What a perfect opportunity to appear cultured by attending an art gallery, while still gearing your night towards the appreciation of indie rock. It's the best of both worlds. Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner is hosting an exhibition of photographs he's taken while on tour. With three photo books already under his belt Zinner has definitely developed a unique style of backstage photography that combines glamour and party photos with more mundane images of the down times. One of the few art exhibitions that it's ok to show up to drunk. "It's Ok, Don't Look Down" will be at Fuse Gallery until September 19.

The Awesome 80s Prom (Aug. 30)

Speaking of reliving your youth, why not do it in style with this funny and touching play. 20-year-old actors will be dressed if poufy prom dresses and pastel colored suits at Webster Hall. "Don't Stop Believing" will start blaring out of the speakers and you'll instantly be transported back to the night Mary Sue danced with you all night and then went home with Franklin. Why the hell did she do that anyways? Ok…maybe some proms aren't worth remembering, but I'm sure that your experience will be better than mine.
