he Miami Beach Convention Centre will be filled with eager art aficionados looking for something to pique their art eye. Starting December 6 and running through to the 9th, Art Basel is one of the hottest (and biggest) art shows around. The 6th Edition will feature 220 leading galleries from the U.S., Canada, Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Africa. If you think 220 galleries is a lot, just imagine the amount of artists that will be featured: over 2,000. Now that’s a lot of artsy-fartsy types in one location.
A one day ticket will run for $30, while an evening ticket (after 5pm) will cost $15. When you think about it, you’re paying pretty much the same price as going to the movies- and it’s educational!
Pace yourself and don’t eat too many snacks- no one likes to be car sick on the way home (or at an art show, for that matter).
The exhibition runs from noon to 8pm daily, and has various restaurants and shuttles around to keep you fed and happy. The best part? Joe’s Stone Crabs is located only 5 minutes away via taxi. You can walk around and build up your appetite, while rewarding all that walking with some stone crab.
Your best bet to avoid getting lost is to get a map right upon entering. It’s definitely worth it to know where you’re going beforehand, since the area mapped out is huge and a bit confusing.
