  • Ynot Lounge?

    Review by Ellen Jakobsmeier
Why bother is more like it. Located above a Yorkville sushi joint, the latest local lounge has aspirations of attracting the rich and fabulous in the area, but with a moniker that’s rather uncertain of itself, curious patrons might also reflect the same sentiment.

The 25+ crowd is the desired clientele, yet “an appreciation for the finest things in life” is evidently also a requirement – hence the bar of exclusivity has been set and patrons must have a pocketbook to match. Unfortunately, the attractive 25+ crowd (but no older than 35) with money has been hanging out on the King Street strip as of recent, thus leaving Yorkville and its rich Baby Boomers in their wake.

That being said, young (but not below 25) attractive ladies looking for a rich sugar daddy (or at least a free drink) should make a beeline for Ynot pronto or avoid the joint at all cost.

TACKY (sums up everything about the place from the atmosphere to the people) Why is this place in Yorkville when it belongs out in the suburbs? Overpriced too, but why be suprised! The music is boring as well

Heard about the place through some people and decided to check it out a couple weekends ago. The place, above Sushi Inn is a small lounge/bar that I believe was an old hair salon (could be wrong though). The purple lighting interior made you feel like you were in your high school gym. The decor is all white (another Miami wannabe/slash pre-lobby renovation). Bartenders were slow and drinks were not impressive. Decided in our group to get buy a bottle of champagne, when it finally arrived, the server opened it up but did not pour drinks for us, which we ended up playing bartender ourselves. The crowd is your typical "boring/no-where else to go" yorkville people, nothing upscale or attractive.
If you want an upscale lounge, then you have to go beyond some basic decor and enforce some sort of dress code. I do not call guys in track suits/baseball hats or girls who look like they came from working at a low-class strip club in some small town, a "high-class lounge."
