Tryst is the new plum loco locale in Clubland in which to try out your solid, new pickup material. The space, appropriately laid out, is clearly aimed at the big spender who is seeking a destination for that fatal attraction tryst. Text your illicit lover and make plans to rendezvous in The Havana Lounge, the garden off of The Loft or on the dance floor in The Club. With the many namesake nooks and crannies at the club, the entrepreneurial player could even plan to meet up with three of his (or her) potentials in the same evening if the cards are played right. Or, as one suspiciously stammering clubber put it, "it's the baddest bitch in town."

If, by the off chance, your dates discover what you’re up to and leave in a huff after tossing their drinks in your face, you won’t be hard up for company. The Havana Room, with its chandeliered ceilings, may seek your attention as a great place to strike up a conversation and have a drink with (yet another) a stranger. If said stranger seems interested in learning more about you, take him for a stroll along the garden path to The Loft Room with its glimmering bar and starlit garden view.

The new setting might even inspire your hot new date to open up and maybe even buy you a drink. If his new-found comfort zone shows him to be an absolute freak show that just emerged from his basement after three years straight playing World Warcraft in his housecoat and ordering in Chinese, there is, ahem, an available escape route: The Club. This blandly-named area is a quick staircase away where anonymous revelers rub elbows and sweat it out on the dance floor. He’ll never find you there.

Need a bit of hand-holding? Try the club out for the Fetish Friday party night and get down to the regular rotation of Top 40 and House beats. The club is trying hard to cater to an exclusive corporate clientele, but the most they can hope for is the weekend crowd in from Mississauga. Perhaps the club would have come across in a more dazzling way if this one had preceded the myriad of other clubland clubs. Originality is gone.

In short, when you've spent too much on any kind of contemporary design element, when you've had your heart broken by someone who didn't even know whether to match his socks to his shoes, or when you need to celebrate the birthday of someone who has suffered those experiences along with you, Tryst is your new stylish hideout. –J.T.

This club markets themselves as an upscale club that will tickle your senses. The only thing that was tickleing me was the dirty hoochies hair extensions. I am all for a show but unfortunatley, Tryst has yet to figure out it's place on the scene. This club is total 905, although there are better bars in 905 than Tryst. If Tryst wants to stay, it should cater to the 21-35 urban professfional such as TIL, Ultra or Century Room. It definatley already has the decor, they need to be more choosey over the partons they allow in.

This club has got to have the most annoying, repetitive NOISE called music. Don't bother going. Since there was no option for an overall rating of zero. The system forces you to select at least a "1"

Went out with my buddies on a Saturday and loved the crowd.Older than your average clubland venue, and more mature- thank god. The women were beautiful and the bartenders were fast.

    Definitely returning.

Really liked the patio, the cabana seating reminded me of Miami.
Fast bartenders and courteous doormen- you don't see much of those around anymore.

Checked out Tryst for the first time because we didn’t know where to go. I was surprised to see Joe Marella playing on a Saturday night at Tryst. I used to always go and check him out at Muzik and now he is at Tryst.

The music was pretty good in the main room. The dance floor is sunken in and it’s something you don’t really see at most clubs.
The club has a bunch of rooms. There’s a small chill area when you first get in the club and after that there’s the main room. The main room is huge. There’s booths on one side, the main dance floor and then the bar area. It’s pretty hard to get through the bar area when it’s busy, but at least the bartenders are fast.

Didn’t go in the other room and the street side patio that much, but I will check it out next time.

    8.5/10

I tried Tryst last night, upon reading the review. Not bad. I hadn't know the place was even there. I see myself returning... but, like the other writer noted, they need to work on crowd control (Cougars for the masses, here).

I admit, the space is a gem... but the promoters will have to work to gain a better crowd.

My wife and I just had another great dinning experience @ Fare Bistro in Leslieville, 1097 Queen St. East. I can,t say enough about the place. They have done some wonderful things since Verveine was in the spot. But the best part are the new owners Brad Clark (formally Select Bistro) and his partner Beata. It has become one of those comfortable French neighbourhood Bistros from any town in France. The menu never fails to impress, the specials always excite me and wine list is a true oenophiles de-lite. Beata has found some true diamonds in the rough. The servings are just the right perportions, the plates are allways warmed on any hot menu item and there is never any sense of rush. I hope this wonderful Bistro gets it's just rewards and stays in the Hood for a long time to come.
