On the other hand, with suck lackluster enticements it's surprising that Opium exists at all. Situated between Seven and Inside (there are line-ups in even the most treacherous weather), it reminds me of that annoying little bratty cousin who always tries to compete on your level, but embarrasses himself in his own futile attempts. The cheap drinks could be a draw, but the corny Euro-techno vibe is not worth the hassle.
As for Toi, drinks are reasonably priced, but the bar gets thumbs down for minimal selection in the vodka department. There are only two types of vodka and the price difference between them is enough to do some damage….particularly if you’re drinking doubles ($5.50 per shot/premium is $8.50). I spent the night throwing back compromised vodka beverages. My palette was cringing, my liver depressed.
Cheap vodka + bad judgment = weekend warrior headache.
In this narcissistic dance club world, Toi, like crack, beats Opium every time. Try not to inhale.
