he bright orange façade on Roncesvalles Avenue (between Pearson and Marion) is not merely screaming out for your attention – it is, with much effect, notifying the java consuming masses that something hot and new has arrived, and is going to give you a feel-good jolt with your cup of joe.
Tinto Coffee House is the latest hip addition to the village that is regenerating a discovery of why this is becoming one of the cities hotter neighbourhoods. The word “tinto” is red wine in Latin America but throughout Columbia, from where owners Ricardo Rozental and Elvia Sáenz originate, it is slang for a cup of coffee.
For the caffeine junkie who needs that big fix, espressos, americanos, mild and strong coffee’s are just some of the hot beverages that are available. And it’s just not a coffee that’s on tap; maps of North America, Canada and Colombia line the front (markings made to let you know where in Brazil and Colombia the coffee comes from) and selections of imported chocolate from Ecuador (also circled on the map) are displayed for you to peruse and (hopefully) buy.
This neighbourhood has been in dire need of a sit-down coffeehouse where you can enjoy casual banter, read, work (they have free wireless internet hook up) without it being one of the almighty corporate chains. And it also avoids the “let’s hang out in front of the fireplace feel” that is so prevalent with many coffee shops. Rozental and Sáenz have beaten the big boys to a part of town that is becoming one of the city’s hot spots.

This is really enjoyable place to have a cup of coffee. The lay out of the space is really comfortable, the upstairs is really cozy, a hppay little hide-away.

Very tasty and interesting food. Slightly high prices. Not very friendly for families with small children, but great ambience for couples, small groups of friends or individuals looking for a quiet time to read, write, surf the net and/or relax. I enjoyed it very much. Looking for a chance to go with my husband without the toddler, haha!

I love the organic beer and sweet potatoe wraps. Lots of computer geeks hiding upstairs but a lot of artists too. Great place to unwind!

I quite like this place. It serves organic and locally grown foods, has a nice inviting atmosphere that I love to spend time in and is quite reasonably priced. They also have interesting arts events.

Finally a coffee place in the neighborhood that isn't one of the big brands, but isn't a hole either. Their coffee is top notch every day and the staff is freindly. Free internet keeps me coming back, along with the tasty munchies they have. The servings aren't huge, but hey, I'm trying to eat healthy anyways!

I went to Tinto Coffee House with a couple friends
this weekend and i was surprised at how expensive it was.
When the food came, i was disappointed
at how small the portions were.
There aren't many options on the menu
three salads and three wraps,
and the only soup on the menu was watery and tasteless.
I will not be going back.

A cute place and we need a good sit-in coffee shop in the hood.
Too bad the place has a slightly cafeteria feel and that 2nd floor room should be opened right up to make it a loft.
The shape of the place is not good and the last business suffered from the un-feng-shui set-up also.
If the ambience was better i would be more forgiving of the slightly high prices.
