The Wheat Sheaf has been around since 1849 which makes it arguably the oldest watering hole in Toronto. Back in the good old days, pre-Confederation even, soldiers has easy access to a quick pint at The Wheat Sheaf by way of underground tunnels that connected Fort York to the tavern. The menu is satisfying and predictable. Chicken wings, burgers and beer-battered chicken are the house favourites. For a taste of Canadian history and some filling bar fare The Wheat Sheaf is the place to go. –J.T.

I went to this place on the advice of a customer and I do not see what he sees in this place. Rude staff, rude rude staff, the food was pure rubbish. When you have guests from out of town its really an embarrassment to go there. Wow for the oldest place in Toronto, you people better clean up your act. Ignorant wait staff who clearly cant handle their section and get confused about what you tell them you want.
What an overall disappointment they will never get a dime of my money again. To think at one time I use to say wow its the oldest bar in Toronto and relish in its history, Now I wont ever mention it again in any sort of positive light. Remember folks who read this I eat out alot and have never been treated so poorly in my life. Give your heads a shake.

Overall horrible pub. The bar is the oldest in the city, but it's seems as if their wings have been around since they opened in 1849 and that they haven't cleaned their kitchen since they opened...When it comes to the beer, you better order a bottle, because their taps are the same story as their kitchen: unclean and unfit to poor a good beer. If you like Guinness, you'll have a odd offtint almost yellow coloured head compared to that crisp white you should receive.

On a positive, they have a lot of seating, a nice patio and cheap prices.

Horrible service with take out. Make sure you review and confirm you order when you order the phone, maybe take a name or two of who took your order. Made my order and walked out empty handed with an angry manager. The great news is if you want great service, and simple ordering call St. Louis at 416-203-2883
