The Phoenix is about as solid as live-venue nightclubs get; depending on who’s on tap, this classic club is fun, it's evolving, it's local history, and it doesn’t pretend to be anything other than what it is—a true rock club.
Famed for its live-to-air Edge 102.1 nights, Phoenix is one of the last authentic old school rock clubs in T.O. With a constant entertainment lineup, cheap cover and a loyal crowd, the club continues to have headliner acts.
With its live-to-air Fridays with Mix 99.9 playing Retro 80s, 90s, New Rock, and Alternative, it is attracting a younger crowd of new rockers. Saturdays get an interesting start with “Club 102,” as the Phoenix goes live-to-air with Edge 102.1. The club fills up quickly for a lively party. On Sundays, they change the turntables for reggae, hip hop and R&B clubbers for Planet Vibe Sundays.
The club itself is 18,000 sq. ft. and contains 3 separate rooms, all of which are equipped with its own sound system, bars, and dance floors.

7 Reader Reviews | Nice place to go catch a show. Big and a bit too loud. Didn't know the size wasn't sure what to expect, wasn't prepared with ear plugs. High Life on draft! Comfy seats, useful if you're just chillin, not useful if you like to actually see the bands. They're kind of chintzy on the heat. Seriously, I'm in a crowded venue. I'm was layered as a turducken. How am I not sweating my ass off? Though for that very fact I was quite grateful.

I haven't been to the bar in years. But this place was possibly the best venue for small shows. I saw many shows here and the sound was perfect. Because of the layout, it seemed like a very intimate show but high energy at the same time. And you could still navigate to the bar for a drink.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Phoenix. They book cool bands but it is definitely not one of my favorites in Toronto. As far as I'm concerned they let more people in then they should. Every show I have been to here it has been toooo crowded.

It was very sad to see Planet Vibe Sundays come to a halt in Aug'05 due to those individuals who resort to violence. It was hands down the best place to be on a Sunday nite, there hasn't been anything like it since. It was different and Unique. Hopefully, we will see phoenix open up it's doors again for the ever so popular "PLANET VIBE SUNDAYS".Im sure "all of us" regulars will be back...again!!!!!

This is a really well written article, it really depict my club experience. I was actually there for the recent shooting, it was pretty bad. But I really don't blame the club for it, more so the careless individuals.

With the ever changing nightclub landscape in the city, it's nice to know that you can count on the always consistent Phoenix for a great night. Don't worry about the "hippie", "pretentious" people at Phoenix. The only ones here are here to have a good time and party. If you love rNb, hip hop, raggae and want to dance till 3am, make sure you are there Sunday night. No other better party in the city. Hands down!
