Parkdale locals, ask yourself this. Do you feel you've exhausted all the local lounges and drinking domains the area has to offer? Are you tired of witnessing the designer suits steal hot hipster babes (by fanning themselves with money) at gentrified hot spots? The Parkdale Drink can cure your funk! Classifying itself as a lounge and eatery, this new local haunt aims to fill a neighbourhood void by providing international cuisine, a fully stocked bar and bottle service, all within a cool edgy atmosphere (that isn't the Drake).

Owner Catherine Thai is anxious to finally open the doors after nearly two years of hard labour on the space. “Everything had to be renovated, including the floors, plumbing, and electrical. We ran into more than we expected.” All has since been revealed, and Thai can now take pride in her accomplishments as patrons consume exactly what the space offers - plenty of drinks.

It would appear that success runs in the family. Thai cut her teeth working in the restaurant business, helping out her mother at the family restaurant, Saigon Flower, further east at 1138 Queen Street West. Saigon Flower has been serving locals for over 20 years at the same location, just a few doors from the now infamous Drake Hotel. Not only did Rose Vuong’s establishment get a recent Restaurant Makeover, her fiesty demeanor and fierce determination helped to keep her property out of the hands of Drake Hotel owner Jeff Stober, who has already snapped up most of that Queen West block (I'm curious to see when the city receives a petition for the renaming of Queen West to Stober Street).

A Parkdale resident for the majority of her life, Thai is happy to see a diversified change in the character of her home turf (just not monopolization). This is one of the reasons for choosing the location on the other side of the Dufferin Bridge, “the real Parkdale”, she likes to call it. The Parkdale Drink will be a hangout for “the locals” (a bit of a confusing definition given Parkdale’s diversity) and Thai points out that the majority of her staff of 18 are also local residents.

Not the usual sleek and modern, void-of-all-character-design that's currently plaguing the city, the Drink has some enticing features that creates a distinctly comforting haunt. A slew of 40” LCD televisions are scattered throughout and drink prices are standard at around $5 a pint/bottle/domestic rail. Her plans call for a fun environment whereby people can kick back and watch football and hockey (she’s a big sports fanatic) on one night, or relax with a manicure and martini on another. For those who want to splash out, selected nights will have discounted bottle service pricing (for those who can't afford the bottle service up the road).

Despite having absolutely nothing on their website about a dress code, my group was turned away because one individual had 'runners' on. I won't be going back.

im 30 m/...used to promote and still help out once in a while.

i came there for a birthday on 14th of november... boxing was on, music was hype

    re: old skool

watching the boxing was great...go manny....

    worst part of the night:

had a guy who may have been spanish or mixed.. light skinned wearing a vneck tshirt.

kept eying me down for some reason. ignored it. im too old for that kind of shit.

end of the night, same asshole grabs my gf's ass. i confront him and hell breaks lose.

    he gets tossed.

IS THIS THE KIND OF SHIT THAT HAPPENS THERE EVERY WEEKEND?

---reason why i'm out of the clubs in the core or pretentious king west area other than my age.

my brother writes articles for places to go in the GTA...

clean the place up...i hate punk ass losers who start shit.

btw vneck wearing douche. you punch like a girl, i walked out unscathed.

Is this place still open? We have a Christmas party here - and we were the only ones there. Very sad to see. But a little upkeep could be in order.

The PD is a great place to hang with friends and enjoy a night. Music is always good. Food is amazing, including breakfast. The decor seems just right and the patio is outstanding. It is inexpensive and provides great quality. Definitely worth the trip into T.O.

OMG, I was at The Parkdale Drink on November 8th 2008 for a friends birthday. It was GREAT!!! We originally had just booked for dinner but once we were done we couldn't leave. I had Steak Frites, mmmmmmm good is all that I can say. It was delicious, the steak was perfectly cooked, the cut of steak was perfectly balanced too and the Frites, to die for.

When we arrived we were told that it was Martini night, great for a group of 12 ladies. I started out with the Homer Simpson, which was very yummy then I moved on to their "best selling Martini" the Pink Diamond. After taking just one sip I totally understand why it is their best seller.

What topped off our night was when the owner came up to our table and handed out champagne flutes with strawberries, she then popped a bottle of Prosecco and wished my friend Amanda (the birthday girl) a very Happy Birthday from The Parkdale Drink. It was so nice to have an unexpected treat. It truly made my girlfriends night. A little thoughtfulness can go a long way.

The atmosphere was great the crowd was early thirties and well dressed. The music was awesome too. The place was packed yet still very friendly. I would suggest calling for reservations. And I will be back for the great service and IMMACULATE Martini's.

I was there on May 31st. The Parkdale Drink was hosting a fundraiser for The St Francis Table. There were a couple of bands playing for the fundraiser and I have to say they were quite good. We got there late and the tables in the front were reserved for a party, not a big deal that happens on Saturday nights. The server provided me with options of tables further back or on the brand new patio. We were quite pleased with our selection to stay on the patio. I have to say this is Parkdale's most beautiful patio. Cedar everywhere, it smells great and the vibe was alluring. Not sure of the last reviewers experience, but we were treated with great service even when it was busy. I guess its all about communication. Go see it and experience it for yourself because every time I have gone to The Drink it has been great.

We had the misfortune of having to go to the Parkdale Drink for a benefit concert. The staff are extremely rude and ill mannered. The fail to put "reserved" signs of tables and then chase customers away from supposedly reserved tables without giving them another table to sit. We eventually decided to take our business elsewhere and were unable to enjoy the band we had gone there to see, it was toxic. With the manager glowering at us everytime we sat down in another table.

This place is big on pretension but fails in service and accommodation. Too bad because it is in an interesting area in town. Don't waste your time and money here, there are more hospitable and professional establishments.

I have been to The Parkdale Drink on Saturday's over the past few months to enjoy the discounted martini's, $6.00 for a 3oz, WOW! I have only eaten there once and the food a 3 out of 4. Atmosphere I ranked at a 4 because you really can have a nice dinner vibe then as the night goes on the music gradually gets louder and the real party starts. The music is great its a lil bit of everything when I think of it. Value I ranked as a 4 because damn, how can you not with a $6 buck Martini on a Saturday night. As for service, dinner service was great, I would rank it as a 4, as for bar service, as the night goes on and more and more people line the bar it takes a little longer for drinks. I guess, its normal considering its Martini night, but this is why I ranked service as a 3. All in all I would recommend everyone go and check it out to rate it yourself.

If you're regularly doing bottle service in Parkdale you need to ask yourself what your damage is, I'd say. Please stay at the Drake.

Soooo....if you are looking for a place with good tunes and a chill mixed crowd...this is the spot.

My friends and I frequent the parkdale drink on a regular basis and it's always a hit.

We often do bottle service when we're there and I swear it's the only establishment in the city that seems to appreciate people spending money. The owner and bartender tossed us some complimentary patron shots ....and more, to show their gratitude.

i dont know about you....but for me...a little goes a long way.

cant believe the comment below. i have been there often enough and have never had an experience like that.

i think it's addition was only positive to the neighbourhood and it's development.

    First of all,
This place lacks in every way possible.
When i went there the female bartender was too drunk to even take my order right.
The waitress WHO BY THE WAY IS THE MANAGER must have been having a bad day considering she was rude to me and rolled her eyes several times.
When my food finally came, it was rock cold.
The employees ended up arguing right infront of me and my friends, we all thought they should be ashamed of themselves.
For a place that was suppose to bring more vibe and entertainment down to parkdale, they made a really good job of making parkdale look like the place to avoid.

Dave says: "gave a one for service only because the skinny blonde working there was a little wierd".
And I'm way off? The same "skinny blonde waitress" (judge much?)was there when I was there, and she was fine. It wasn't because of her that the my group (2 guys, 2 girls)left, it was the mish-mash of style and no character that we didn't like.
And Dave, if I want to see monkeys, I'll go to a zoo. They probably have burgers there too.

I was looking forward to a different vibe on west Queen west, but this place ain't it. Nicely done up, but with numerous flat screens showing football games (on Saturday night?)and obtrusively loud, tinny music, there was no vibe. Beer selection sucked too.
Hopefully they'll get it right eventually.
