Review by Scott Tavener |
he mention of court jesters conjures specific imagery and memories. For some, i.e. Danish princes, thoughts of jesters spur existential debates: "Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio: a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy." ( Hamlet (V, i, 203 - 204)). Others think of jingling hats, carefully applied makeup, and laughter. Still others, especially those that live near the Danforth, think of dart-league friendly, inviting, neighbourhood pubs, like The Court Jester. Expect regulars and solid comfort fare. Expect neither Ophelia nor Rosencrantz. - S.T. |
