11 Reader Reviews | I love Comrade. It's a great place to have a drink with friends - and I have on at least six occasions in the past year. The service, usually by the owners, is so attentive and always pleasant. I think their snack plates, although minimal, are great for portion, quality and price.

The Comrade is my favourite cheap vacation spot. I feel like I have left the city while sipping my Fruli, mmmm strawberry bubbles. Don't go there if you are expecting dinner, but you can get a delicious plate of cheeses and so on.

I have rarely liked a bar/lounge so much. The room was instantly welcoming; there is something warm and balanced about it, tons of room, beautiful furniture but comfortable too. I loved the artisanal cheeses and figs etc., and the wine was great.
This is my favourite place in Toronto to meet friends. And yes, I bought table lamps. If their furniture store is still open, take a look. It's very odd to go to a bar, and buy lamps, but that's what I did.

This past friday, several friends and I embarked on a 'Leslieville' bar hop - intending on hitting 4 or 5 establishments. Our second stop was The Comrade, and we didnt' want to leave!
The design detail and ambience here are great - the imported loungers, dark wood, deco and asian touches makes you want to lay claim to it as 'your bar'.
Our server (who I believe is one of the owners) treated us very well, keeping our cocktails full. I had something called 'La Parisienne' and it was very tasty (and potent).
I'd recommend this place to anyone who takes their cocktailing seriously!

Nice lounge atmosphere but smelled like a bathhouse. Waitress had zero personality and tried to convince us that organic milk clots in coffee - not likely. Menu was unappealing.
