The virtues of Table 17 are considerable. The most immediately obvious is its cute-as-a-button physical appearance. The creation of a Leslieville eatery brought to us by the owners of Izakaya is impressive enough, but it’s the clever use of the little space that’s truly entrancing. A trip through the three-room space is eye-catching, and the main dining area itself, with its charismatic aesthetics, is rendered with ingenuity and good humour. And when the night goes sailing off into evening - the room filling and energy intensifying - the sight is a splendid one.
After closing the doors of Izakaya, owners Erik Joyal and John Sinopoli got right back into the restaurant scene, this time with a new partner (John Dawson) and a venue that's a little more accessible.
European bistro to the core, with dark woods and light walls accentuating the ridiculously high ceilings, Table 17 is a relaxed, home-y environment. Each of the three rooms have something different to offer. A large L-shaped bar lined with stools takes over one wall, while small tables and a lounge-like couch owns the front area, under the glimmering copper-coloured chandelier.
The main dining area sports a similar décor to the bar, yet slightly more formal, with tablecloths over dark wooden tables. Step into the bar room and up the long, narrow stairway and you will find yourself facing a group of dark-wood tables, a large flat-screen TV for sports-watching and a private bar; this is the reserved area, meant for large groups and parties.
While the spirit of the new Table 17 is Italian, Spanish and French cuisine - much different from the Izakaya shared plates - the owners have such a special place in their hearts for their now-closed Izakaya, that they have sentimentally brought back an Izakaya customers' fave: the famous Chili Beef Ribs.

23 Reader Reviews | Simply the most sublime and yet stimulating dining experience. Superior service that is both friendly and polished - no egos or moody staff here, professional, accommodating and honed with skills to enhance the overall dining experience. I loved the restaurant layout, great combination of European charm mixed with a bit of Soho sensibility. Food is divine and memorable. Your server stewards your wine for you - I love that! Also, because it must be mentioned, this is the first restaurant I've enjoyed where the wine was served at the perfect temperature - for those that appreciate wine you will understand my need to mention this - I have become complacent to inconsistency at restaurants in this regard and I was fulfilled by that alone and then my culinary journey began and I was hooked. Highly recommended! After dinner stroll to the Comrade Lounge a few doors down, another fabulous place on Queen - perfect for a date night!

Table 17 is amazing, Cocktails at the bar with Mike and the Service at the table is wonderful. They really make you feel like a "Local"
Every dish is delicious.....
I can't wait to go again, I have enjoyed table 17 at least 5 different times and loved it every time.....

Was on my way out the door of this restuarant to try another place for lunch due to very slow service and was subsequently comped my meal by the owner. That was a boon. I'm glad I didn't have to pay the 10.00 price tag for the sandwich, it wasn't great.
Table 17 is a warm and friendly place, but maybe not a place to go if you are a high maintenance customer or someone expecting perfection. I was quite happy with the fabulous coffee as well as the feeling that the staff cared about my dining experince.

Food was OK. We had to wait 1 hr for our table (granted, we didn't make reservations); however, the staff kept us aware of table availability. Not a spectacular restaurant, but the service more than made up for it. I found the place decoration a bit on the boring side...just my humble opinion.

I was somewhat disappointed, overall. The atmosphere was comforting and eclectic. The service was only mediocre, the food was pretty good, but still did not live upto the hype of the restaurant. If it weren't for the side of frites and the delectable desserts we would have left wishing we never came. Nonetheless, it is worth a try. If you're still thirsty afterwards, Pic Nic is an amazing place for a casual but incredibly satisfying drink.

Went for a second visit (was ambivalent after the first visit) this weekend with my family--total party of 8. Three bottles of wine and a built-in gratuity, which I don't have a problem with if I get service. The moment we sat down, we were informed that we had precisely 2 hours as the table was booked for 9 pm, which completely dampened what was to be an evening of celebration. They then took forever to bring our food, which was good, but as other people here have noted, not amazing. We left at 9:10 without ordering desserts, coffee, or after-dinner drinks, because frankly, we didn't feel welcome; and there was no party wating for the table...they just wanted to split the tables into a 4-seater and a couple of 2-seaters. While this may seem sound business practice from a financial viewpoint, in these tough economic times, I wouldn't think it will prove viable in the long-term... I won't be returning.

Beautiful decor and space, great vibe! Very friendly service. Espresso drinks not so great, though.

The ultimate comfort food spot. Whether you're in a rush, or wanting a cozy little spot to eat - you've found your match! Not too crazy about the layout... but I've been twice and I still salivate thinking about the food.

One small correction: This restaurant is not in Leslieville; it is in Riverside. The part of Queen East from the river (~Davies Ave.) to the train bridge just east of Bonjour Brioche in Riverside.

I've been here twice; once for brunch and once for dinner. Both times the food was great, but both times the service was slow & inattentive. Especially brunch - 45 minutes to receive scrambled eggs & no coffee refills. Despite what I consider to be bad service, the food & wine are so great that I will go back & have my fingers crossed for better service.

It was good. But being in the fine dining industry I've had better. I just think it's just a tad over-rated. but don't get me wrong, it well worth a try.

I went to this restaurant on a recommendation and so glad I went. It is a small place so you have to look out for it. The food was great and the prices are not over the top. I am looking forward to dining there again.

Table 17 is a place that knows how to do things right. Fantastic, friendly service. We can have dinner closer to home, but I walk an extra two blocks to get to Table 17!
