uite 106, an eclectic part of the Level club complex, adds a dose of VIP hotel chic to the mix. Suite is on the second floor of the building, sandwiched between the dark, red Level and the more upscale, white cushioned Wett Bar.
Entering the club, you climb up the stairs and across a bridge that crosses over Level, so you can watch the party below. This gives the illusion that you will get more than what is actually in store – Suite is not small but it’s not huge either. The name fits.
The lush cushioned seating and curved edges of every surface give a warm comfortable look to the space where almost no part of the club is lit by direct light – the place glows from the inside with red backlighting behind every wall. Pillars punctuate the room, each covered in curtains. In fact, curtains surround most of the club, which adds to the hotel look but also gives the feeling that there is either a surprise on the other side or that the space isn’t finished and is just covered up. The ceiling is covered with a metal criss-crossing pattern, and speakers are dotted along the ceiling, ensuring that the sound is uniform across the space. The bar-tops are dark black marble with gold-like flakes, adding up to that desired expensive look.
VIP areas abound – this place was built for bottle service – almost every seat has a bucket waiting to be filled with exceedingly expensive booze. There are two partially enclosed areas, both of which are tucked away in the far corners. One is by the second bar, and is dark and cozy. The other is circular, brighter and enclosed in glass panels that make it look like you’re peering into a mirror until you realize you’re staring at people. In the centre of this room is a pillar encircled by a chandelier, while low couches line the walls with more metal pails. The bar isn’t cheap either - $7 for a Stella.
