alk about a restaurant with a theme- I suppose people have had enough of Medieval Times. At Space Lounge, 12 zodiac-designed tables are only the start of this futuristically themed restaurant. A circular cocktail bar, with modular high-backs certainly demand attention. Neon lights and spaceship shapes will appeal to children, but those planning on eating will be less amused.
Chatting up a few people for their unbridled take on the slightly off-kilter place, and the general consensus is that the area clubbers will never give the bar – really a nightclub - a chance. Space Lounge has diversity on its side. You can sit down for an actual meal at a space-y booth, order a cocktail at the large bar (the tap list is however unimpressive), chat with your buddies, or mingle while practicing your wink.
To be fair, owners have outfitted Space Lounge with a fairly clever - though Hanna Barbara-ish - aesthetic appeal. The designers have designed a solid structure that can withstand rowdy (and there surely will be) club behavior, cocktail parties, and the occasional birthday bash. Although the cliental is selective, the atmosphere will always be relaxed. Though the space is unique enough, this complex is a steady fallback for a night out. Just don't expect the scene to make the night for you.
At Space Lounge, expect a smorgasbord of kitschy menu items, some worthy, some, well... club fare. Cocktails are named for planets (do adults enjoy this kind of things?), and some of the dishes are "space" versions of themselves, such as the space poutine, of yam fries and Caribbean curry sauce, or mini space burgers with brie- though do look like space ships. If one were in the right mood, or on the right drugs, this place could provide a fun novelty evening, but I still wonder what planet the owners were on when they devised this restaurant.

6 Reader Reviews | A bit odd for a club. But the area dwellers seem to like it. I give it a year.

Food was fine as were the drinks which were poured well. There was a DJ playing music for the party so it's a bit hard to judge how the ambiance would have been otherwise, so I will leave that others.
Overall though, service, crowd and space all coalesced quite well and created a solid, chill atmosphere.

It looks really cool, the lighting fixtures are very nice, its a nice place to go and have a couple drinks, but the food wasnt that great. Need to add more to there menu and make the meal sizes a little big bigger. I went there for my birthday, and I was a little disappointed, because we went there for dinner, and when we got our food I just felt liek I was eating a snack. But the service and atmosphere was great.

Truly the place to be - where Vancouver's best crowd gathers :o)

This happened to be the first "stop" I made almost 2 months ago when I arrived in Vancouver. Not to sound Jerry Maguire here...but ..."You had me at hello". The design had intrigued me enough to go in and enjoy a glass of wine. While the environment was new and exciting I truly was impressed by the staff. Then came the Chef. Matt is truly brilliant at what he does as his passion for his food is unmatchable. Just watching someone so passionate about his food is truly a rarity in the industry. And now as the team has grown with the bartenders being just as passionate about their drinks. This Lounge isn't a beer drinking lounge with wings. This is a nice place to start with a great meal, have some unique drinks that truly taste amazing, and then by 10 or 11, the lounge will be cranked up with a great party atmosphere. Top Notch in my books. And the best part is, if you don't see what you like on the drink menu, ask one of the brilliant bar staff to make something up. They have a Flare for doing great drinks.
