It’s well known that all good things come in pairs (twins anyone?) and Sotto Sotto is no exception. Classic Italian fare served within the intimate atmosphere, Sotto is a discreet dinner destination for VIPs and well-pressed adulterers. The minimal distance from Yorkville ensures a fancy-perfume contingent or pro-shopping, urban aristocrats.

Totally pretentious, pompous staff and overpriced food. I had a one-night stand with the head chef and didn't even realize he worked there until I saw him in the flesh. Things went sour from there. The food was sub-par. Not sure if that was intentional.
Don't go there. And I thought Splendido was over the top!

Excellent Night, Excellent Food, on January 17/10, We as a family went to Sotto Sotto to celebrate my Husband Salvatore Birthday. We had a wonderful time. The service was excellent. The sitting area was very comfortable, we enjoyed very much. Antonella's sweets platter, was delicious. All the Best to you All.

I love the atmosphere here. It feels like we are in a little hideaway in Italy. The tables are close together but it is cozy and I didn't really notice anyone else. The waiters are busy but relaxed and helpful. The wine list is excellent! Overall, oone of my favorite places in all of Toronto. Much better than Canoe, Ki, Far Neinte... If you just want a nice dinner, an intimate setting, and not all the hoity toity around, go here.

Had a really bad night there. The valets are wanna be gangsters, the hostess was obnoxious and the waiter was annoying. Besides that the food was not worth the money paid. Really bad. Would rather go to mistura.

truly an unforgettably incredible experience. we waited not so long at the door to be seated and the hostes was extremely busy but nonetheless accomodating, and while we waited we were served a drink and just looked around. and...what did we see...lots of action, this place really is buzzing. i can see why it's so popular. the movemnets were fast, thee kitchen was incredible to watch, i was really hoping we could sit at that table near the grill, what a sight. the food was great, i haven't had a better pasta outside of italy. the waiters was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. all the staff seemed to work together amazingly well. it was my birthday, and i was even brought a complimentary grappa, and for my date a lemon liquer. i loved it!! thanks sotto sotto (1st timer)

had dinner there once, then someone gave me a heads up that Sputini's upstaris are the same owners and share the same kitchen....upstairs is amazing! never rushed, tables not too close and the service and prices are amazing for the same food!

My wife and I had a miserable experience at Snotto Snotto. Crowded, noisy, low ceilings, just very uncomfortable and poor reception. No bar! Big birthday dinner, couldn't get a reservation until 8:30. We left at 9 after it was clear that no seats were forthcoming. Far as I could tell from the large angry crowd behind me this was an every night occurance. Greed and hospitality don't mix.

My wife and I booked two days ahead and were seated right next to the grill, which was hot and noisy and frenetic . The tables were cramped together and I heard every detail of a lady's workplace woes for an hour. The ceiling was so low as to be truly claustrophobic . The waiters seemed to working as a tag team so there was no continuity and no personal service . The wine list was ridiculously expensive .
In fairness the food was adequate but nowhere near as good as the Opal Jazz Lounge ( Queen St West ) the night before , nor compared to the Bistro and Bakery Thuet ( King St West ) the following day .
We contemplated leaving as soon as we were seated , and on retrospect we should have . There are many more less pretentious and better restaurants in the near vicinity . I presume Sotto Sotto relies on episodic business . Certainly we will not return .

Their famous clientele has definitely gone to their head. Regular folk are mostly treated with disdain by prima dona wait staff and given service that is at best perfunctory. Bus staff carry the load of service duties and waiters avoid all but minimal contact with diners. While the floor manager stays rooted to the bar with his back facing the not-so-important early-seating diners. Armani-clad regulars are gushed over and offered advice on specials and wine, while out-of-towners and infrequent guests are not deemed worthy enough to even inquire after their satisfaction with their food.
Their once great Caesar salad has been reduced to bagged lettuce, too few / too tiny courtons and lack lustre dressing. If that doesn't put you off your experience, try telling them about it. The attitude you get back in response will definitely ensure you won't want to return. And don't ask for the special with a side of pasta, they will charge you full price for both the special and for the pasta, rather than substituting which will easily put your meal on par with the most expensive item on the menu.

Food is great. Good wine list( gone downhill since Fabio left). Only problem is they rush you due to 2 seatings per night. When you get seated at 7:00pm you get "We will need your table at 8:30" Who needs that when trying to enjoy a glass of wine and a plate of pasta
