f you’ve wondered what happens when you deposit a Ritz Carlton chef into a space in the gay village, consider Slack's Restaurant & Bar. The sprawling, evocatively furnished joint has taken over where Slack Alice left off.
The space has been completely renovated, now sporting an industrial, loft-like interior that is more open and a lot less cluttered than the Slack Alice days. Slack's is now open. - R.B.

16 Reader Reviews | My friend decided she wanted to go here for her birthday dinner and then stay to party. The food was ok and the service sucked. Our server was distracted and forgot our drinks and some of our food order. It all became a bit clearer a littler later though. It's a little weird to walk in on your server doing a line in the bathroom. She was kind enough to offer me some, but I haven't touched the stuff in years. The unprofessionalism was shocking. Don't they have a back room for that kind of stuff?

This is one of the funnest places to go in Toronto. They have a new menu with AMAZING prices. We went there on a Thursday night and there was live music playing with super talented performances. Yes it was a bit crowded, but everyone was having a good time and were super friendly. My boyfriend and I are going to make it a weekly tradition now. Try the Jack Daniels Chicken Sandwich on foccia bread, with had cut (too die for) fries. Heaven on earth!

I had no idea that they had such good food. Now I can relax with friends, enjoy a good meal, then party my butt off......all at the same location.
This place rocks! Try the Calamari, by far the best around.

This place has a great vibe. We ordered tons of apps and enjoyed every bite. A great selection.
The staff made my party feel like we were sitting in their living room. They talked us in to staying for the Friday night DJ and it was certainly worth it.
They know how to have a good time at this place and the food makes it perfect for pre-party priming.

The coolest martinis I have ever had. The food was great. I had the seabass and was in heaven. My waitress was extremely professional and really sweet.
I recommend martini nights every wednesday. They have live music and cheap martini prices.
Nice to have this place on the strip. I'll be back on Wed for sure.

I've been here a couple of times before for appetizers and drinks. Food is ok. Some items are overpriced. I wish they had regular fries instead of sweet potato (yuck!). My friends and I go out here a lot on Friday nights (better music than Saturday). Do you know what the most annoying thing about this place is? The bartenders. I know there are at least two or three working and there is only ever one behind the bar! Where are they? It takes forever to get a drink. Don't bartenders work for tips?
P.S. One of the bartenders dances on the bar a lot - and shes pretty hot.

The atmosphere was nice although it did not make up for the rude innappropriate staff. I've never been treated so poorly in my life. I would never recomend this establishment to a friend nor would I ever return there again.

We love the food at Slack's and have always had great service. Martini night is worth the trip in to town.

Great, friendly place to eat AMAZING food, or to just hang out after work for a drink. Great wine menu too.

Overall, it was brutal. The food was yummy (sweet potato fries are delish!) and the music was cool. Our service was awful. Our server (the only person there), looked like she had just gotten out of bed and hadn't bothered to brush her hair or get dressed. She ignored us most of the time. When she did pay attention to us she called us 'sweetie' or 'hun'. We are gay men in our 50's. It wasn't right coming from a 20 year old twit (harsh? maybe, but it was bad). This happened a couple of months ago. We went back again recently and it was the same experience. I won't make that mistake again.

Amazing!!!! The food is tasty and affordable. Fav Martini umm Dirty Girl!! But on weekend ask for The Amanda Special (drink from Amanda) yummy and yummy. The Friday and Saturday night dancing is fantastic ( not to mention the crowd talk about smoking hot ). And finally a clean washroom like women deserve with free product. A breath of fresh air with a hint of money love it!
