f you're one of Toronto's wealthy elite, there probably isn't much I could tell you about Rosewater Supper Club that you don't already know. Located minutes from the Financial District and the Theatre District, people don't go here to dine so much (despite the name) as they do to be seen and also to be "scene". For over a decade, this has been the place to be for loungers and diners who want to dine not just anywhere, but "somewhere".
It doesn't hurt that the club is housed in a landmark neo-classical building that dates back to 1852. And you can tell. The 22' ceilings are adorned with hand-painted cornice moldings and the walls are decorated with opulent artwork. A piano sits in a waterfall bark while romantic tables and private rooms sit upstairs. You won't feel like you're out for dinner; you'll feel like you're at a large royal party housed in a palace.
In case you've forgotten by this point, they do also serve food. The Asian-inspired menu, despite it's status as ultra-chic and trendy, is equipped to feed the hungry (not the actual hungry, the foodie hungry). The restaurant offers the rat packs an option of fine cheeses, mains consisting of Thai duck breast, kobe beef, nice Angus steaks and grill platters. It's the kind of food that was designed to impress, just as the restaurant is designed to inspire awe.

9 Reader Reviews | I was excited to go to Rosewater for Summerlicious because it had a good reputation as a fine dining place & I often go to fine dining places. When I walked in, I wasn't at all disappointed by the luxurious interior: low lighting, marble floor, waterfall and a baby grand piano in the lobby, high ceilings, tiffany windows...the place was fairly packed as well, mostly with older clientele.
However, the server took a VERY long time to come to our table to take the order and once the order was taken, it was another VERY LONG wait to get our appetizers even. The server looked way too busy to come to our table & once he did, the server spoke so fast it was difficult to understand what he was saying. The bread basket with butter is generally put on the table, as soon as you provide the order, but that wasn't the case here!
I ordered a summer salad for appetizer and the grilled atlantic salmon for entree. First of all, the quantity was extremely disappointing. I actually went home and had dinner because this restaurant hardly provided any quantity! The salad tasted like grass and the salmon tasted somewhat bland & fishy, and to make the salmon edible I had to put a LOT Of black pepper & butter on it. You would think that with the salmon they would have cooked it in some sort of sauce, but again I was surprised & disappointed! On the potato gnocchis that came with the salmon tasted good: sweet & salty & I wish there was more of those there. It was only the drinks (thye had a good variety) and the dessert of chocolate molten cake that tasted any good.
And what angered me about the restaurant was the visible discrimination that was there. The servers simply taking the order & wearing the nice white & black outfits were all white! And the ones who were actually bringing the food, cleaning up the table after & working in the kitchens were all wearing black & were visible minority!
I was extremely disappointed with this place and I have recommended a lot of my friends to not come here! I surely know I won't be coming back!
If you want a nice, romantic restaurant to take your significant other or try good fine dining, go to Spuntini on Bloor & Avenue!

Being two young girls coming in for Summerlicious, I was expecting, at best, a brusque manner. Not at all - the wait staff was experienced and extremely attentive, and we tipped them very well. The duck confit was done very well. The salmon entree was well-cooked, but bland (the gnocchi and sweet peas didn't add much to it.) Their Summerlicious cocktail menu was cute and good value (5.25!) and the desserts (chocolate lava cake/berry strudel) were both fantastic. The place was BEAUTIFUL - but keep in mind, if you are looking for a cutting-edge Queen West eatery, this is not it. This is old-school glamour - dark wooden floors, waterfall, white table cloths and waiters with silver water ewers. All in all a really fabulous dining experience.

So very disappointed. We both ordered the Duck entree which sounded dellicious on the menu. It didn't LOOK like duck (8 medallions of some sort of pink, undercooked meat), it didn't TASTE anything like duck, & it certsainly didn't QUACK like a duck.It came with "no starch" we were told. We didn't understand until it arrived---NO potatoe, rice etc. & NO Veggies!!! Just this unknown meat along the plate & pickled beatroot in some sort of sauce disguising it as beets!! Awful & over $29 for this entree!!!!! Left HUNGRY & very ripped off.

This place sucks hard.
You better make a burger run when you leave - you won't be full.

was reccomended by hotel concierge, it was not that memorable. No wonder the place was empty. This place would not last a week in Montreal.
