    Review by Ellen Jakobsmeier

Though it's difficult to save room for dessert, you should make an effort; it would be a shame to miss out on the requisite Crème Brulée. Known for my sweet tooth, this dish's burnt sugar topping (resembling a beautiful stained glass work of art) and furtive über-creamy filling were a welcome surprise.

With an emphasis on southern French fare - known more for its robustness than finesse - Provence's mission is not re-invention but accessibility. Provence, smack in the heart of Cabbagetown, has an ardent charm and ebullience that self-conscious places lack. It's so charming that you’ll have no problem signing on the dotted line when the steep bill arrives. – E.J.

Terrible and obnoxious waiter! Nice setting, reasonably priced meal: Appetized and entree were excellent, dessert list left something to be desired. Side basket of bread is extra charge (!)

Tres francais.... Great service, nice people. Although I was shocked that there were no Moules Marinere.. Otherwise, all dishes were tasty, as well as a little different. I could practice my frenchy skills too! Not expensive either. Great place!

Provence has fantastic food. Unfortunately, even that isn't enough to entice me back. Having returned to this establishment on three occasions with the optimism that the service would improve, I have been disappointed to find it more appalling at each subsequent visit, with my most recent (and last visit) putting an end to any thought of returning. The wait staff in addition to being pretentious, are obnoxious, condescending and rude. Our waiter (who has served us unfortunately on a previous visit)has been consistent in his irritating attempt to make humourous remarks, and ignorant in his assumptions about those whom he is hired to serve. We heard similar sentiments from the table next to ours, and have also heard tales of unbelievable rudeness from others who have been to this restaurant.
