trangely, Proof doesn't serve any Vodka. No, I'm just messing with you: it's drowning in the clear stuff. A cocktail lounge heavy on eastern-European libations (because, unlike Ireland in the 19th Century, eastern-Euro nations have plenty of potatoes), Proof rides the hotel bar trend to great success.
Shaking off its former blandness, The Intercontinental Hotel is proving that, if you re-work it, they will come. By killing off the staid Harmony lounge and rejuvenating the liberated space with a hip new lounge – now dubbed Proof: The Vodka Bar – the hotel is luring younger Yorkvillians, occasional fur hat wearers, and cocktail-craving suit pilgrims from the north and south.

Proof is soaking in its fresh design re-vamp with an out-of-the-box lounge formula. The InterConti hired Tim Zebrowski (of the California-based Zebrowski Design Group) to create Proof’s design, which he did with zest and imagination, immersing the space in chocolate browns and sage greens. Interior designer Cecconi Simone then handled the actual implementation of the various elements, cutting, pasting and re-jigging the space, clearly for the better.

I agree with a previous review: wait staff needs remedial training in serving 101. I've been here before, about 4 months ago; had a good time, good service. Somethings changed.
Rather than go on about it, enough to say that it was so sub-standard that it pissed me off enough to walk out even though I was attending an event there.
BTW, it wasn't a busy evening: still very early.

We have been invited out to Proof a few times, and unfortunately we stopped by last night, and there seems to be a new DJ, and a downward spiral.
Proof is a bar in a hotel, and will never be more than a bar in a hotel. It is a nice looking place, but has so many problems. Management needs to be trained on how the business works perhaps. The crowd only peaks at about 20 people on any given night.
The crowd is 50 - 100 years old, mostly hotel guests, that complain about the type of music, and the volume, the bartenders are older guys, and the staff seems to be consumed in their own little escapades behind the bar. I really haven't figured out why they bother. Not to mention the inconsistancey. Sometimes it's open, sometimes closed, closing early, or no DJ. It's an easy way to ruin your night when you and your friends go out and there is no DJ, or you're getting kicked out at 12am.
With Lobby right next door, I think I will forget Proof, and spend a little time next door. Lobby is always packed, and pumping some good music. Better than the half assed job at Proof.

Proof is an amazing place. It has been under consultation from the world renown Empirei Highlife, and with a new DJ (Tom Henry), from what I have seen, this is the place to be. Much classier with a better crowd than the rest of clubland. I was at Lobby last week, and was suprised to hear Proof referred to as the "Lobby Killer" by some of it's patrons..
I don't know...but we may have the next big thing on our hands.
