Review by Ellen Jakobsmeier |
an pizza from the past is coming to Toronto via the West Coast creation of Panago. With a 20 years in the BC biz of serving personal pan pizzas to demanding clientele, this pizza joint has multiplied quickly through its innovative products and “think fresh philosophy” (i.e. no heating lamps allowed). Each pizza is personally created right in front of your eyes in their open concept (germophobic friendly) kitchen and then baked for the longest five minutes of your life as your taste buds are tempted by the wafting aromas of melting cheese and fresh dough.
The ingredients list is unique because unlike many chains that I will refrain to name, Panago hires an Executive Chef (Jason Symington) to keep the menu fresh and inventive. Here you can dine on gourmet toppings– smoked oysters, blue cheese, fire roasted tomatoes, carmelized onions and Chorizo sausage to name a few – on the go without causing yourself a coronary (all pizzas are MSG and trans fat free). So head over for a personal pan pizza pie at the new Bay & Gerrard locale and find out what makes the West Coast so cool.
