Myth or Truth—is this restaurant too overrated for the Danforth? Well, that is for you to decide. Located in the heart of Greektown, Myth offers a high rolling atmosphere with a truly Greek menu with a variety of sharing appetizers to munch on. – A.C.

15 Reader Reviews | Saturday night dinner, party of eight (seated immediately with reservation). Winterlicious menu.
Service painfully slow; food preparation and presentation sloppy; Winterlicious menu ($25 prix fixe app, entree, dessert) very uneven.
The server took a long time to take (and return with) drink and food orders. We were ignored for forty-five minutes after our food orders were taken; bowls of bread (cool to the touch, white bread with butter packets) were brought for the starving table just a couple of minutes before the appetizers finally arrived.
Apps:
- Calamari (breaded, fried) was cooked appropriately, good texture. Tzatziki promised on menu was missing.
- Lentil puree (soup) was lukewarm and not hot, acceptable flavour but uninspired.
- Saganaki was served on skillet, but waiter forgot to flambé at the table.
Mains (after another long wait):
- Pork tenderloin was tough and very dry. "Myth's own traditional spices" lacked flavour. Very disappointing.
- Lamb loin chops were tasty.
Portion size of protein was sufficient, the three accompanying sides were quite small. 'Lemon potatoes' were a couple of pieces of boiled potato in a pool of mildly lemony/oily sauce. I used it to give some flavour and moisture to the pork. 'Vegetables' were a few pieces of broccoli (tasty, not soggy). Rice was plump and flavourful.
Desserts:
- Creme Brulee was unavailable.
- Baklava was serviceable.
- Tiramisu flavour was acceptable, but presentation was appalling. Two or three lady fingers completed buried under a flavoured whipped cream and mocha sauce, served flat on a side plate. Looked like a plate of melted ice cream.
It appeared that smaller tables around us (parties of two and four) had similar issues with speed of service. The waiter did not volunteer Myth's regular menu; I do not know if it was available.

Forgot to mention- very trashy people looking people! My friend and I were dressed very nicely and felt so uncomfortable by the old fat men that litterally just stared!

What a horrible night!
I went to this restaurant on a friday night which happens to be "Arabian night". I went with another girl hoping it would be a fun different experience much like the Sultan's Tent. What we intially intended was to have dinner and then hit a either a pub or lounge bar afterwards. I sugggested this place because on a cold december night in Toronto I thought thsi place has it all- restaurant/ entertainment/ and nice bar.
The dinner was terrible. The apertif's were delicious but it all went downhill once the app's came. The music was incredibly loud that my friend and I had to litterally yell at one another in order to talk. The food was grossly over priced for something that we both felt sick afterwards. I ordered the lamb chops and my friend ordered the lamb shank dinner and neither one of us were impressed. The dip platter was litterally frozen. Our "hummus had chunks of ice in it. The wine list was a joke. The first time we ordered a bottle, the waitress came back to say they were sold out. This happened a second time. The third time, our waitress came around and just listed the wines they did have available (which was just one in our price range)- I'd understand if it was a busy night but litterally we were 2 of about only 30-40 other persons in the restaurant. We didn't even finish the bottle because for white wine it was not chilled enough and we were so bothered by the loud music which was an old guy with his band singing "ahhhhhh yyaaa yaaa yaaaa ahhhhhhhh" all night (basically just yelling). We went across the street to demitre's and had a tea to wash down the expensive dinner that came to 125 for two persons. We wished we just stuck with our original plan of heading down to King street for a nice dinner and hit the bars around there afterwards.
What a waste of money and evening out!

Went there on a Saturday night a couple of weeks ago and will never go back..
-Blaring loud music, impossible to speak to someone standing in front of you
-Terrible service, very slow and a little overpriced
-Smoking INSIDE (mostly upstairs)?...disgusting!
-Trashy looking crowd...full of old perverted men
need i say more?

I give Myth one star just for how it looks, but nothing else. We had to wait at least an hour for our order, the waiter was rushing us to order, and overall I felt I was intruding in a gang bar... The food was nothing special, I even had stomach aches after that.
Would not recommend this place and will not go there ever again!!

The atmosphere is alright when there are actually people in the restaurant.
The staff for the most part seemed preoccupied and when we were served I could not understand the waiter because he mumbled everything he said and when I asked if he could repeat he just looked at me blankly.
When the food finally came he brought the wrong order to our table, then charged us for the incorrect order. when we asked to speak to management the gentlemen did nothing for us and got angry because we did not want to pay for what we did not order or eat. These people have issues they need to address, VERY poor customer service.
The food is alright, it's basic. Nothing that would make me want to return to that specific venue to dine. The only thing that makes this restaurant mildly interesting is the belly dancers on the weekend.
Overall, I would not return to Myth for food or anything else really. Once was more then enough for me.

I will be very honest. The food was pretty good, nothing amazing, but good for the lower price (as far as Toronto goes). The service was ok, they forgot our drinks twice and then we had to take some pizza home (3 slices) and when we opened at home there was only 1 slice there...werid. The atmosphere is great! The best part, very nice inside, and a small patio. Value is good as well. I will go back, and I would suggest a visit. Don't expect amazing food though, but still some of it was good.

Awful experience!!! If there was an option for a zero rating, I would assign it to the Myth Restaurant. I had the worst experience - upon entering the fairly empty restaurant, I had requested the bus boy (as opposed to the host or wait staff) to seat us at a table for 2. On the way to the table, the owner/manager yelled at the bus boy to set up a table for 6 even though the guests had not arrived and I was waiting to be seated. The bus boy rushed to set up the table and left us in the middle of the restaurant. We patiently waited - after a few minutes, the bus boy approached us again and apologized for the wait. While we were being seated, the owner once again approached the bus boy and yelled at him for the 2nd time to set up another table. At that point, I told the owner that I was waiting to be seated and this was the 2nd time that he yelled at the bus boy and that I did not appreciate that type of service. The owner yelled at me and told me that he could continue to do "whatever he wanted, including ordering for a 3rd table to be set up regardless of what I thought." I was in utter disbelief and opted to walk out of the restaurant!!! I was amazed that the owner of this establishment responded to a patron in the manner that he did. The owner is rude, discourteous, ignorant and has severe anger management issues that need to be addressed. Unfortunately, the staff is influenced by his behaviour which ultimately makes for a very poor dining experience. Needless to say, skip the Myth experience on the Danforth!!!

I would give 0 star to Myth if I could. I went there with a few friends for my birthday dinner on a Sun night. Thought it would be a unique idea for my guests to have dinner & watch bellydancing! But the evening went horribly wrong because of the horrible service: tactless & rude waiters who need a lesson in common etiquette, a half & hour wait for a simple souvlaki on a stick appetizer (and it wasn't even a busy night). Let me tell you more below:
1.) When I made the reservations 3 days before, I wasn't even informed that on Sunday nights a $10 extra (separate from the food) would be charged because of the bellydancing. It was the management's responsibility to inform me, so that I could;ve told my guests in advance!
2.) So imagine my surprise & embarassment when 3 separate people came at separate times to inform oue table to pay the $10 cover charge!!! Its as if they were harassing us & wouldn't even let us sit in the restaurant, until & unless we didn't pay!
3.)Moreover, they harassed us some more to order quickly making the stupid excuse that once the bellydancers came, it would be hard to bring the food to our table! Basically thy wanted us to order right away & get their money, but we were still waiting for at least a good 6 more people to show up, so obviously we can't order a main course until more people didn;t come!!!! Whatever happened to some nice conversation with your friends prior to dinner???
4.)The last straw happened when a friend of mine came in later & they wouldn't even let her enter the restaurant itself until she didn't pay up the $10 cover charge!!!! Do remember that they didn't warn me about this while i made the reservations, so obviously I couldn't let my guests know about this charge. Once this happened, I cancelled my order for the main meal, we paid for whatever food we got & promptly left.
5.)We also got our cover charge back for the bellydancing, because the dance was suppose to begin at 8pm, but at 8:45 (when we left), the dance was no where close to starting!!!
6.)Then our waiter chases us out of the restaurant onto the sidewalk & pretty much accuses my friend for not paying!!! She had paid by debit & a cardholder copy was given to her as proof of payment, but stupid, moronic waiters at Myth lost their copy of the receipt. They later found it but didn;t even apologise to anyone of us for the bad service & the humiliation they put us through.
I can guarantee if we were white or greek people we wouldn't have gotten this nasty service or been treated as if were going to leave without paying!!!!!
Good service here is truly a Myth!!!

Saturday night dinner. 8pm only one or two tables in use. Music too loud at that point. Dinner was okay. Didn't order wine because of the previous review. Couldn't hear the waiter speaking. Seemed to mutter everything he said. Didn't realize it was Winterlicious so with this in mind the food was okay for the value. Would we return. I am not so sure.

An evening at Myth made for a great Friday night after work. The atmosphere was great - very funky, yet still romantic and the service from our Aussie waitress was wonderful.
Only criticism was the over-priced wine. We would love to have had a second glass, but at $8 (pre tip & tax) for a standard glass of South American wine, we stuck to one.
