    Review by Martiniboys.com
Montana Restaurant & Bar has re-opened with a Restaurant Makeover. After 13 years, owner Larry Sdao, decided it was time to shake things up. Food Network’s Restaurant Makeover team took over the Montana location, renovating the place over a ten-day period.

Through Food Network’s Restaurant Makeover program, Executive Chef David Adjey, contributed his renowned talents reinterpreting the “classic casual” menu with a “modern flair”. Celebrated Designer Lisa North added a “contemporary feel” to the large dining room space, with that particular “sexy female touch”.

We went to Montanas because we heard there ribs were so good, well they were the worst I've ever had. We had to pull strips of fat off each rib, before we good eat them, what meat there was. I do not know where they get there ribs, but maybe get a new butcher. They were terible.

My rating of "1", is only because there is no option to go lower then that. Basically, it was the first and last time I will ever attend this place. On a Saturday night, all I expect, after the bartender gets my drink order wrong, is that there will at least be some booze in it. Who out there can't taste vodka in water? After asking 5 customers if my "vodka/water"(which was supposed to be "vodka/cranberry"????) had any vodka in it, and ALL of them agreed that there was NO vodka in it, I was pretty much told(apparently by the manager), that we were all wrong. For the cost of one drink, and a customer that will never return or recommend wasting your money at this place, they ignored me and made me dispute it for close to 15 minutes. All she had to do was make me a "vodka/cranberry ,and the $4 tip she got would have been worth it. If you want to get ripped off and treated like crap, by all means check this place out.

After reading the last review... I felt as if I needed to say something about this restaurant. I too had a birthday party there last night, and we had a great time. The service was ok... however I waiter kept disappearing. They were one of the only restaurants in the area to reserve a table for 20 without setting a minimum. Overall my party enjoyed it... I would recommend it for a large group outting.. just suggest you sit downstairs.

i was there last night (feb 16,08), for my bday party for 14 people. i went to that restaurant last year for a staff dinner pary and we ended up having a fabulous time so i figured we'd go there. so here is what happend last night:
i reserved a table 1 week in advance, the upstairs is the club area so i figured they wouldnt put a dinner party upstairs! not only that but it was about 10C upstairs, some people had to wear jackets it was so cold (the waitress said they turned the heat up, but the fireplace was broken).
there was buckets around the place-great decor, apparently the roof was leaking, you'd think the upstairs was closed if the roof leaks! the bathrooms were flooded, and the floors were slippery!
there was no music there until 10:30 pm, the dinner started at 8pm.
the place was absolutely horrible...i wouldnt recommend going there at all! not only that, but when we tried to call and complain, they said to call back in half an hour because they were 'too busy setting up' WTF! very very displeased and dissapointed. if it wasnt for the great company, i could have cried.

we were a party of 16 got in, sat down, moved around to accommodate people that were coming in a bit late, ordered our food, took a good half hour for the food to arrive in our table, and when it did for some reason the one of the waitress decided to just drop the food in front of us so rudely almost throwing it on the table. Asked to have separate bill for each couple or persons, waitress said they can not accomodate us because we moved around the table. There was not any sign or posting saying that says they cannot separate bills, spoke with the manager, he said that they do not separate due to the load of work for the waitress to separate bill on a friday or saturday not to mention that we've moved around the table before they took our orders.

by the end of the night we ended up with separate bills but our drinks are on one bill.

I have been to Montana restaurant on John St[BTW, it's NOT the same restaurant as the Montana's Cookhouse chain, you guys in the 905 region : ) ] several times. GOOD NEWS: It's a good location if you're going to the movies, because Scotiabank Centre Theatre, formerly the Paramount Theatre, is across the street. I'm not a nightclubber, I'm a baby boomer mom who loves movies and eating out. I've given this restaurant several chances but have been disappointed every time. So unless I'm absolutely desperate & can't find anywhere else in the area to eat, I doubt I'll ever go back. BAD NEWS: Small stingy servings, very overpriced and pretentious in atmosphere & attitude, the staff act like you should be humbly grateful to be admitted inside from a long line-up, but they don't hurry to take your orders. No revovation in the world will fix those problems! Sorry, Montana without the 's, Montana's Cookhouse WITH the 's is 10 times better. Milestone's next door on John Street is a lot better in terms or food AND service.

I was not very impressed with this place. Me and my boyfriend were hoping to enjoy a nice birthday dinner there recently, but we didn't even get close to being asked what we wanted to drink. The servers and hostess kept looking at us, wondering why no had come around to us, and just continued on with doing nothing.
Having previously worked in the restaurant business I would fully understand, if it were busy and on a wait. But after 10 mins of being unattended, we just left, and walked right past a group of servers and hostesses just standing around talking.
