11 Reader Reviews | If you're looking to pick up here, forget it. This place is mostly just to hang out with friends and dance to the tunes. Overall girls weren't bitchy, but didn't seem approachable. Guys weren't aggressive, but there were some weirdos.
We went on a Saturday which coincided with Taste of Little Italy, and the cover charge was a whopping $15. Drinks were a bit steep as well.
I expected more Brit pop and less Madonna. However, they seem to have local bands play a live set at the start of the night which may be a good thing if the band has good tunes.
This place for me is not what I'm looking for in terms of a night club, so unfortunately it has been taken off my list.

I've been going to the Mod Club since it first started when it was pure 60's.. I've seen them expand to Saturday nights at Rivival and then finally having a home at the current Mod Club Theatre.
I've taken friends visiting from Japan, England, and from all over. And every time, i get the same reaction. They LOVE it!
Saturday Nights are the nights to go!
The Current Atmosphere is fun, energetic and un-pretentious. It's Overall a great vibe.
The trick is, go early and beat the queue! (yes, like all clubs, there are queues) catch the opening act (always great way to check out new and upcoming local bands). what ever time you do get there.. be sure to get in by 1230 for "the Show".
For drinks.. Trick is, go to the smaller bars.. the corner bar by the entrance or the upstairs Orange Room bar, queues there are shorter.
Music is Brilliant !
Mark Holmes is a great performer, he knows how to pump the crowd up! but my favourite DJ is Bobbi Guy. He knows his stuff! Always new, always good, a Class Act. A true MODest Guy. If you're not a twat and have actually had the chance to speak with him, you'll see what a class act he truly is. I've lived in England and was very much into the music scene there and believe me .. DJ Bobbi Guy KNOWS his music !
Of course there are other Mod-like/brit-night clubs but I've have always been unsatisfied, they always seem ... pretentious. and their sound system is aweful.. Mod Club Sound system is Awesome! and lighting is a show in itself!
I love Mod Club
Be nice to the people who work there, they're giving up their Saturday Nights for you. Go there to have a good time, and leave your ego at the door.

I am not sure why so much bitching about $15 cover. Any dance club these days takes up to $20 cover. Even 4 years ago when I used to go clubbing every weekend that was the cover we had to pay. Dance clubs are not cheap and most of the times music sucks big time. So if someone doesn't want to pay cover then dance clubs shouldn't be on your list. When it comes to bartenders at the Mod I agree their service is very slow, they're all over the place, and there is no dress code. All in all I saw worse then Mod Club. I will so go there this Saturday to dance:-)

Terrible!
We pre-booked a party of 15 people there, and were guarenteed by-pass line and reduced cover.
When we arrived right on time, we went striaght to the bouncer explaining we had line bypass. He said to wait for a minute while he checked into it. We waited for 15 minutes, in freezing temperatures. He returned, but said he had no answer and we'd have to continue waiting. As the line was (very) slowly moving, we put a few people in line incase that ended up being quicker.
Still, no reply. We called the club. We only got put on hold, transferred numerous times, and nobody would give us a straight answer. Finally, we send some people to a residence 10 minutes around the corner to print off the reservation email we got back from the club. Brought that back, which is now 45 minutes after we initially arrived. They still denied they sent it, claimed that we made it up, and told us to go to the back of the line.
We waited for another 45 minutes, then left when the line hardly moved much more than 10'. We were still on the street, and not even close to the entrance. All of this in sub zero temperatures.
For a club that is so far out of the way to begin with, I'd never return.

The Mod Club is a great place to see live music!! The sound, large screens and lighting in there is very enjoyable. There's one thing I would suggest to the club owner, is the SERVICE!!! The bartender staff is crap and the security (bouncers) there are asses!
One night, I had to pay $$$ to see a live concert and I saw one of the bouncers opening the back doors for 3 other people and got in for free. I was pissed!! Well, I would suggest that for the Mod Club, if they are going to hired people to work in the club, make sure that the club won't be a liability for loss profits because one employer.

This club had so much promise when it opened. The music, the prices and the bartenders made it a regular stop every Saturday. Unfortunately things have changed - and not for the better. The playlist is stale. The prices are too high and the bartenders are... Hey do you have any bartenders on staff??! (note to MOD: rancourous bathrooms, continuously running out of glasswear and bartenders wearing exercise pants to work is pretty low brow so why are your prices so high?) Angry bouncers, corrupt management and tired bartenders round out a less than stellar team. So long MOD Club.

It's sad to see a club that used to be a great spot, turn into a terrible mess of greed. Bouncers hold long line-ups down the street to make the club look impressive, while it is empty inside. If you don't like waiting in line, the bouncers will let you bypass for a $20. The snobby front-desk girl will make you pay even if you're on guestlist. Absolutely terrible.
What used to be a great place to dance and drink the night away, has turned into a disappointment. A recent price increase on drinks, and $15 cover on Saturday night makes it even worse.
Avoid the Mod Club at all costs, and hopefully one day their ego will come back down to make it a reasonable and fun place.
