estled between a trendy boutique and a pizza place at the corner of Yonge and St. Clair, Mint Thai is hoping to lure pan-Asian craving, credit-card armed, midtown suits and their 6 o’clock cravings. Think Spring Rolls, but smaller and a tad less gentrified.
Quaint, calm and intimate, this new restaurant (taking over the spot vacated by the short-lived Ocean) has the perfect atmosphere for that date that you’re trying to woo or that client that you're trying to impress. With soft lighting and fill-ready wine glasses waiting on the tables, Mint Thai has it right when it comes to setting the mood. Fresh flowers act as centerpieces and the décor is refreshing, fitting nicely with the soft jazz that plays in the background.
When it comes to food, think classics. Pad thai, won-ton soup, and spring rolls are just a few of the usual suspects gracing the menu. Though far from adventurous, the dishes are made with fresh veggies and spices that are suitable for everyone. The end result is an enjoyable mix of Chinese and Thai. As an added bonus, Mint offers a “Seasonal Catch” section (using such greats as lobster and crab), including dishes with a little more sophistication, giving alternatives to those feeling adventurous. But, if you’re not in the mood to stray, don’t fret: opt for some vegetarian spring rolls. They're just about as good as they come: not too greasy, but just greasy enough to know that you probably shouldn’t be eating them. Don’t have enough time? MT does take-out as well. Vegetarian? There’s enough selection to avoid lettuce nibbling.
Though you shouldn't expect anything fancy on the drink menu, Mint stocks the requisite selection of meal-complimenting libations. The best part is, you won’t break the bank. The prices, just like everything else, hover around the middle. Not too expensive but not overly cheap, allowing you to enjoy a decent night out without feeling guilty when the bill comes.

Very good food. Good value: emphasizes quality over quantity. Excellent atmosphere. Pleasant minimalist interior.

I've been to the restaurant twice and the service never fails to be disappointing. It takes more than 45 minutes to get your food when most of the lunch crowd only have an hour for lunch. I thought the first time was only because they just opened up the restaurant and haven't figured out the logistics but I guess they still haven't figured it all out even after being open for a few months. In the restaurant business, no matter how good your food is, customer service is key to the restaurants success...never again.

As a frequent diner of Mint and previously Ocean, I am pretty satisfied with the menu selection, quality of food, and service they provide.
In response to John's review:
Since I frequent Mint and Ocean (previously), I am pretty sure they DO NOT serve pork. Given the fact that they do not serve pork why would they purchase pork at all? it wouldn't be smart to buy something you don't use, right? Also, if you look at selections they have, it's usually a choice of: beef, chicken, shrimps/seafood, or vegetarian, never an option of "pork" to mistakenly replace your chicken with pork. Doesn't make any sense at all.
In addition, I don't recall any "deep fried" chicken with "sweet and sour" pineapple at Ocean (as I've tried most of the items on the menu). I still have a copy of their take-out menu, and I did not see "deep fried chicken." That sounds like what you get at regular chinese restaurants.
Also I just ran a search on Mint's menu AND take-out menu for "pork," and "almond" but nothing was found.
Not sure if John has ever dined at Mint or Ocean.

The pineapple fried rice with thai grilled chicken was really delicious! It's definitely valuable and tasty, lots of fresh pineapple and delicious thai grilled chicken. You get a lot for what you pay for.

Ok, had chicken with rice and almond to go. I am quite sure it was pork. The pineapple was dry, the rice was so very bland, the meat we tough, and the whole thing was very expensive. I really miss Ocean, they had this amazing deep fried chicken and sweet and sour pineapple plate that was true killer.
won't go back, sorry
