  • Margarita's Fiesta Room

These days, tequila-spiked Margaritas are taking their place among your high-end hooches, shaking off its nasty rep as fuel for frat parties and bad hangovers and earning pride of place behind the bar at cool little Mexican joints.

Take Margaritas in Kensington Market, for a prime and long-running example. Margaritas doesn't slouch when it comes to quantity, with five flavours of Margaritas from which to choose. Kick back with a Plate of fajitas or a hot tray of sizzling Totopos with melted jack cheese. - B.J.

This was the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Never try it. I’m not a picky eater but their food was disgusting!!My veggie enchiladas had broccoli stems, carrots, beans, and what tasted like flavourless tomato paste on top. I took two bites and couldn’t eat anymore. My friends food was bland and gross too. The burrito had nothing in it - no sauce, veggie, or nothing you’d expect. And the meat apparently had no flavour.

The service wasn’t great either. The worst part was the completely over-charged us! They wouldn’t let us leave until we paid even though we were over charged. I wish I made more of a fuss when there but now all I can do is warn others to stay away.

Also my friend went there a year ago and liked it and she doesn’t know what happened since she thinks its awful now, so even if you’ve heard good things in the past I wouldn’t believe it.

I have to say that I love Margaritas. Its one of those hidden gems. It's even better in the summer with their patio open. The service is always friendly and their food is always delicious and piping hot straight out of the kitchen. I do have to admit that sometimes especially when they're super busy the wait time for food be a little longer then normal, but its totally worth it. I recommend the sangria and guacamole to start your evening and from there everything is pretty much super tasty. If you're going in a big group i would make a reservation only because the place fills up fast. In all Margaritas is definitely a place to check out. It's not everyones joint but it's hard not to fall in love with it.

I love this place! When I was there it did take an extra minute for our drinks, but our food was served insanely fast! The staff was very accommodating. I’m surprised that someone was upset about having too much alcohol in their drink! Usually in Toronto all the drinks simply taste like the mix. I would recommend this hidden gem to anyone. The atmosphere is fabulous, especially on a cold winter night when you want to feel like you are somewhere warm. Try the mole enchilada...yum!

I visited MF on Thursday August 30th in the evening with a couple of friends, for dinner.

First, it took them FOREVER to bring us our drinks (even AFTER they brought us nachos and HOT sauce.. how nice!). Then, when they did bring us our drinks, my "banana daiquiri" tasted strangely like tequila and not at all like banana. When I brought this to the attention of our "lovely" waitress, she very nicely told that there was no way it was made with tequila, she watched the bartender pour it herself. I have 'partied-til-i-puked' off tequila enough times to know tequila when I taste it!!

Next, one of my friends bit into a hard item buried within his enchilada and hurt his tooth. The item resembled a small, hard, white pebble and was heavy, like a rock. When we brought this to the attention of the waiter/owner, he said that this was a piece of uncooked Spanish rice. However, Spanish rice is RED when uncooked and this was MUCH heavier than a piece of rice. The owner gave us a shoulder shrug like "whacha gonna do?" and that was that. We had to request a new meal for my friend and when the bill came, there was no deduction. They should have offered to pay his dental bill, but I guess they need to save there money for bartender lessons so their staff can learn the difference between rum and tequila!!

The ONLY positive about this experience was a friendly waiter who seemed sympathetic when my friend said "I just want to know what that was that I had in my mouth". The owner could learn a thing or two from him!!

I will never eat at Margarita's Fiesta again!!

I tried going to this restaurant to taste their signature dirink, the margarita, on a Friday night. I was told I MUST order dinner, even though it was 9pm. I can't say that I've had an experience like this before in Toronto. The manager was RUDE and told me that I would never get better service at a Mexican Restaurant in Toronto. What a joke. Try Bandidos on Kiing or Milagros on John for authentic Mexican and a warmer reception.
