ith the arrival of this year's Toronto International Film Festival - dripping, as it does, with flamboyance and fanfare - came a new and darker twist on a trend-setting Toronto resto-lounge. Yes, Lobby has managed to transcend its contemporary, white-washed, South Beach-inspired décor, adopting a more sophisticated, decidedly urban design.
Owner Jeff Mandell has married the old with the new, drawing inspiration for the refurbished ambiance from the '40s, with a tip of the hat to swank supper clubs like New York's Stork Club. Accentuating the usual throng of stilettos and eye-blinding bling, Lobby has uncorked itself with the effervescence of - let's say - fresh indulgence.
Delivered by Toronto's own Designer Guys (Matt Davis, Allen Chan and Anwar Mukhayesh), the new design is all about layers; there is a sense of the modern, the exotic, and the timeless. The walls have been wallpapered with original B&W photographs and enhanced with the addition of black banquettes and vases of African grass. Behind the white onyx bar and encased in glass are a series of elongated - and somewhat intimidating - stone masks. With custom-made black leather sofas, vintage-inspired mirrored tables, dimly lit ornate chandeliers and black mirrored ceilings, Lobby has successful launched into the second stage of its hyper trajectory.
Accustomed to serving the affluent and pompous, Lobby has upgraded its private back area with similarly extravagant ornamentation, including an exquisite hand-blown glass and amber chandelier. The VIP area is how Lobby secures its gravitas of slick style; usually reserved for private parties and visiting celebrities, the room has been with decked celeb-placating accoutrements, including a private entry/exit and one-way mirrors on 12-foot sliding doors, neatly separating the elite from the plebes.

Once upon a time this was a hot place. Hip. Exquisite food and drink.
The food is still good. But the crowd makes me want to never go back. you'll see a lot of men with way too much product in their hair and their over-done dates holding a single red rose.

I went to Lobby for the first time this past Wednesday. The dinner was fantastic and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Both my boyfriend and I stayed until midnight and the place was packed! It definitely was a good looking crowd and there was an amazing DJ. Well worth the trip.
We will be back!!

Might be "the hottest" bar/lounge in T.O Yorkville but I think its radiculously overpriced and wayyy too small and crowded, the place is almost 2x2 and soo many people the athmoshpere itself is horrible. I would not recommend this place. 1 star.

Lobby has been a hotspot in Toronto for over five years now, every time I come to visit I am sure to have dinner and stay and party after... A group of friends and I, down from LA, recently had dinner and we absolutely loved it. The new chef Adam Campbell, along side an amazing new menu, and an exquisite list of cocktails and wines, is sure to impress any critic ( as I am a hard woman to please). Personable and gorgeous staff, makes me wonder if you have to be a model to work there haha.. If there is one resto-lounge Toronto that has made a name for itself for travelers from LA it is definitely Lobby. Every celebrity I associate with always makes a point of hitting up lobby when they're in town, on their infamous Wednesday night party or any other day of the week, and now with my thoughts on the new menu they will be sure to enjoy a delicious meal first. Yes ladies and gentlemen... Lobby is back.. and it is more pleasant than ever.

Decided to check out lobby for dinner, after hearing they had done a big reno. The new decor is very sleek and sexy. We were happy to see they had reorganized the dining room. We started our meal with cocktails, and ordered a bottle of wine that the waiter had so graciously explained, and allowed a tasting. Foodwise, i had the jalepeno shrimp to start. Amazing. To follow i had the best seabass i think i have ever eaten. Perfectly executed, fresh and delicious. My husband inquired as to the ingredients of several dishes as he has severe gluten allergies, and the chef was gracious enough to visit our table and spend several minutes discussing the menu with him. Overall we were very pleased with the food and the extra mile the chef went to regarding my husbands dietary restrictions, preparing an entree for him that was not on the menu. We will return, and would reccomend to anyone hungry!

Went to Lobby on a Wednesday night after getting an invite on Facebook. This place is a joke. It's a bunch of kids either selling or doing coke rammed into a little hallway of a club. I don't hang out in Yorkville much and maybe this is why? Overpriced drinks and coked up 19 year olds. I think I will stick to the suburbs, at least it won't cost me $500 to sit down.

We had the opportunity to visit the Lobby last night (during the film festival) and I must say that the service was extremely rude, snobish, disorganized and very unprofessional.
We arrived early hoping to grab a bite to eat and were given menus but left standing in the aisle for 45 minutes. Finally the manager came out and advised us of a table to be sitted. Once we sat down, one of the female wait staff literally kicked us out and told us to eat at the bar. UNBELIEVABLE! Then to make things worse a 2nd female wait staff asked us why we were sitting at the bar when we had our table. It went back and forth between 3 different staff on the dispute over the table whether it was reserved or not reserved. Finally, we were given a table and was told we had to rush because it was late. The drinks were over priced, poorly mixed and the atmosphere was horrible.
It was definitely not the sophicated, initimate venue they claim to be promote. I would never recommend the Lobby to anyone.
THE LOBBY NEEDS TRAINING ON HOW TO TREAT CLIENTS.

Had the chance to check out Lobby, after hearing they had a new Chef. The change was definitely for the better. On my last visit, the portions had been miniscule and not worth the price. The new menu is much varied with an interesting latin-asian vibe. Solid flavours and Great presentation. My business partner and I were very happy with the results. Service was a bit lacking, but we were seated at the front, clearly not the dining room.......Would definitely return, and recommend a visit. Thumbs up.

the new chef was fine. I thought the food was solid but the staff and service is borderline rude. They do nothing to make you feel welcome. There is no value for your money at Lobby and I would not recommend to anyone. I think the owner needs to step in and see how his guests are treated and clean house. Until they get over themselves they are going to have a tough time making it with the true high end toronto restaurants and clubs.

I arrived early to await my clients who I was treating to a victory dinner. The bartender appeared to be more interested in conversation with another employee than serving me a cocktail.I was finally approached with a frown and a look of"you're interrupting me".
The service at dinner was exemplary, although the food was a touch pedestrian. The affable server was very helpful in our wine selection although he was handicapped by a small list that was made even smaller by many of them being"sold-out".
After dinner we made our way to the bar where we quickly realized that the service hadn't gotten better. So,we went to Brant House where we were received well and spent over two grand.Thank god for expense accounts!
