Neon images add a funky appeal to the cavernous interior. “The building,” says Baguley “is a proposed (not yet designated) heritage property and bears an immigrant polish family name, LeVack. The block of buildings is from 88-94 Ossington Avenue. We therefore, named the front bar/restaurant, LeVack’s and the venue space at back, ‘The Block.”
The menu selection will be an intelligently gentrified card, but yielding a few house signatures. The organic spring salad, for example, with baby greens has goat cheese, sliced strawberries and pecans while the grilled croque-monsieur is stuffed with Swiss cheese and ham. While the menu is in the works, the bar is stocked with eight tapped local microbrews along with the staple breakfast drink, Guinness. Another eight bottled brews are available, as well as an adequate selection of quality wines and liquors.
Baguley and Elson aren’t covering new ground here. Many DIY bars and eateries – some better, some worse - have popped up in these parts. But LeVack Block strives to do something different. It wants to impart a clear aesthetic core to the space, to make it all work. With additional room for expansion on the second and third levels, and total floor space around 2,000 square feet, the future is certainly looking bright on this block. I guess it’s testament to both the gonzo power of the overall area and the completeness of the owners’ vision that the bar will surely fit right in. - BD

9 Reader Reviews | LeVack Block is just another bar in a district filled with bars, though the others have better music and, apparently, better people. I'd much rather frequent the more spacious Watusi a block away.
So, minus two stars for hosting a room full of douchebags that night.

Is this the reason why I stay away from these types of bars? They're too crowded with the wrong crowd, too noisy and not the right vibe. The bathrooms were pretty nasty. Plus, I couldn't even get a simple mixed drink (Absolut, straight up, is that too much to ask?). We ended up waiting in line only to be rescued by friends who were exiting the bar to move on to another spot. The Ossington proved to be a better time all around.

This place is great! Got there around 1130 on friday night and walked right in, no cover no hassle. The front bar is awesome really cool vibe good for just having some drinks and chatting, the decor is nice with high ceilings and cool atmosphere. Then u go the back and its just a killer dance party. Dj plays awesome music mostly from the 80s/90s so it was great to dance to all old songs from childhood & high school through the university days for our group of mid twenties. Even though it got really packed towards the end of the night was just a great vibe, everyone was there to just party and have a good time. There was no pretentious vibe like so many Toronto places. And a plus for the girls, lots of good looking guys who are actually friendly!
Overall, loved it and will def be back!

I love the music at LeVack and the bar is pretty cool.....HOWEVER,I must say, I have worked in the industry for years in Toronto and when the bar gets packed the bartenders are slow and not much fun .... I am not the only one... I have groups of friends who don't go to Levack for that very reason....it's growing a rep. for bad service when it's busy
The place is great and if the owner put in better bartenders, people would be happier and he would be pulling in twice the sales!

I was one of the unfortunate party goers at Levack Block on NY's eve. Their idea of a coat check was a couple of coat racks left out in the open. Needless to say at the end of the night my $300 coat was missing as were many others. I called Levack periodically during the week to see if my coat had showed up - none of my messages were returned and when I finally did get someone live I was treated with impatience and informed that I was one of 100 people to call and complain that week about a missing coat. Nice. After the coat check get an attitude check.

Treated terribly by the booking agent there. They double booked and then proceeded to cancel our event (a wedding reception!) at a months notice. I'll never give them any business again.

This place is awesome! It is gorgeous, fun and anything you could ever ask for. The front is so beautiful and the back has amazing music and lots of dancefloor. Finally Toronto has a place to party and it doesn't rhyme with 'Jake'!
